Nothing but the Blood of Jesus

A saint, by God through Christ, a saint.  Tarnished by walking in a dusty world, if one looks upon the outside of my cup.  That may be washed, but how shall I be cleansed internally if not by the Blood of Christ Almighty?  They say to me that we do not see the future through the trees, for no man can foretell his future.  It is not I who have seen what shall come to pass, but my faith in the words put there by God, reveal all this or any man need know about what shall surely transpire in the coming days, weeks and years.  Those who look for holes in the story of Christ or wish for some power quest to morph its perfection, I warn you right out, Do Not Mess With God’s Word.  For again it is not with a man you must reason, but with a Holy God who does not dicker about His demands or direction.  In the end I suspect you will wish that you had been dealing with frail and fickle men.

We, Christians and Jews, who call ourselves by the name of the Lord are entirely responsible for the state of current affairs.  God has written clearly that “WE” are to humble ourselves and pray and that He will hear our words in heaven and heal this land.  He did not call unbelievers, atheists and others to prayer but His ambassadors, His children, His nations.  There is no method by which man will resolve the dilemmas that certainly will eventually threaten the entire race.  For we are an infected lot, riddled and limited by our bravado, our inaction, our judgment, avarice, covetousness and love of self-serving power and continuous glorification.  Oh, you feel that was perhaps a gratuitous, lengthy statement?  Then how about the word you will not utter for its truth and logical gravity, our SIN.  Let us forget dependence upon mortal men to cure the ills of which we are infected.  What we need is a spiritual healing, one that only may be provided by the aforementioned, internal cleansing through the Blood of Christ.

Don’t lead people astray.  If you don’t know the Word then don’t misspeak, for it is not only your eternal soul with which you are wagering.  If you don’t believe in the Bible but are still willing to speak about Christ as if you know Him, then you are likely the most dangerous type of fool, one who thinks he understands but hasn’t the foggiest idea on how to get to heaven.  If you don’t believe then go about your business of not believing, don’t do your darnedest to take others with you down the pathway of misguided self hypnosis, doubt and despair.  For the Bible says that there is one absolute truth that every man knows, the truth of God.  We see Him around us in a thousand reflection per day.  One cannot live with open eyes and avoid the majesty of God Almighty encoded in His creation.  Do not be that person who in denying truth must propagate, prop up and propagandize a self created lie in order to manifest its existence.

In counter-aspect, if you know the truth and believe the Word, most certainly keeping it to yourself is the greatest of known travesties.  The rocks would be overjoyed if God selected them to spread the Truth of Salvation.  Do I look foolish when speaking prophecy written by the hands of God’s, Holy Spirit inspired scribes?  Look, I know what God’s Word says about what is shortly to come to pass.  I will not remain silent for to do so is disobedient to my calling, my faith, my God and my specific atomically, genetically encoded purpose.  This is what I was made for.  I will not be valueless gold or worthless diamond, to be so is a mockery of God’s intention for my creation.  My only value to others is the love I show them which came from God and my only value to God is the love I show Him through my discipling for Christ.  I am not saying that all in this life is moot or wasted time, but I am saying  that life is short and the real value in it is what we do for God.

We all know tough times are coming if they haven’t already arrived.  What would each of us do if our families were threatened by men who demanded they renounce their belief in Jesus or face death?  What if your little girls or your teenage sons were threatened with decapitation or tragic immolation?  Would you stand and wonder what you should do next or would you simply take action crying out to God for deliverance, mercy and intervention?  Jesus is the lamb of God taking away the sins of the world, but He was never weak in the face of injustice or cowered at the threats of wicked men.  He stood for truth, forgave His transgressors and He always took a stand, showing up for service, protection, guidance and provision.

Jesus is our leader, our Lord, our God.  Would He want us sitting on the sidelines criticizing some political leaders inability to face relevant threat or worse yet cowering in our basement hoping that it will just go away.  We are to PRAY for our leaders, hoping that God gives them the courage to do what is right for the people that they serve, when the opportunities arise.  He spoke to us about being strong, courageous and faithful, even when it appeared impossible to be so, because we are capable of all these things through our belief in His promise to show up.  No man fears me, but they all fear God.  Even those who shake their fists at Him in mockery, do so with their running shoes tightly tied.

Israel is being threatened by the “exact” adversaries listed, for our edification, in Biblical prophecy .  The world is rapidly disintegrating to chaos, hunger, drought, war, economic famine, weather and seismological anomaly.  Leaders are no longer capable of faithfully discharging the duties in service of the people.  Good nations are turning their backs on the foundational morals, beliefs and practices that brought them continued blessings.  God has been forgotten as the center of all that is Holy, Righteous and of worthwhile pursuit in this life, being replaced by a bevy of self actualization/aggrandizement goals and mantras.

But even all this is not beyond the Hand of God.  That is why all these difficulties must occur, in order that God’s Glory Might be made manifest for all creation to see.  He will rid us of the illness we cannot overcome, He will end the hunger, war and pestilence that threatens lives daily, He will set the laws of gravity and science back in balance.  We must do our part by humbling ourselves and crying out to God through prayer for we are almost there.  The Kingdom approaches, will you be found open eyed, prepared and marching out to meet Him with arms open wide?  Heal this nation and this world Lord.  Rid us of the residual rule of sin upon humanity.  Come Lord Jesus Come and if You should tarry, give us strength, courage, hope and abundance to do the work until harvest arrives.  God be praised in the Holy and Mighty name of the King of Kings, Christ the Lord.

No Doubt

No one appears to wish to speak the truth because it will commit them to subsequent action, so we bob, weave, delay, obfuscate and banter, hoping that the obligation falls from our doorstep.  Men are not the difficulty here, but the spirits driving their blood thirstiness.  We as Christians must stand together in prayer and join the battle to intercede for the souls of men.  This war will not be won by men, nor by the realm of fallen spirits but by God as He gloriously appears as He promised.  Our job is clear,  to love, to disciple and to forgive those who trespass against us.  That does not mean we must be victims, though all martyrs will be avenged by God, we are being called to stand in this the most important hour of man’s existence, the time preceding the return of God to Earth.

I do not care that our administration refuses to declare the reality of our circumstances for I am not bound, nor limited by their inabilities.  Israel is rapidly approaching an hour of great trial and God demands that we bless them or suffer the implications of our cursing.  Christians, have been warned by Christ Himself that this world would hate us, it is our inheritance for resemblance to God.  None of this is in any manner a surprise.  We did not know which form the evil would assume in attempting to thwart God’s people, but we always knew these days would come.  I do not care if Muslims declare their culpability or deny their alignment with the current torrent of evil, for this is not the great commission.  I fear for them that they will be separated from God for eternity without coming to a saving knowledge of Christ.  Isn’t this our charge, to honor God, even in the moment of our potential doom, praying for mercy and forgiveness for their souls.  That is what Stephen, a layman did, that is what Paul an Apostle did, that is what the Lord Jesus demonstrated upon the cross as He died for all creation.  The time has come where we will need to be strong and courageous in our vigilance, relying upon faith in God for salvation, protection and judgment.

Things are out of kilter because of sin’s grip upon humanity.  It’s bonds are increasing as we collectively and culturally edge further from the foundation of the Rock of Ages, Almighty God.  It is not science which breaks down, it is not gravity’s power eroding, but the spiritual constraints which morally guide us as a nation.  We have become something other than the simple folks yearning to be free, trusting God to deliver us from tyranny.  Our guidance is weakening as we frequently turn to the insufficient wisdom of man to free us from travesty.  Yet, this in itself, is tantamount to sufficient evidence of God’s existence, as the further we travel from His shadow the greater the tears in our protective hedge and cultural fabric.  We are spiraling, in fear, flirting with economic disaster and courting despots because we refuse to return to the one solid foundation available in this chaotic universe.  To those who would harm the innocent, remember their blood cries out to God for vengeance.  When their blood is found on your hands, upon your soul, it is to God you shall answer.  Men may cower, refuse or lack diligence in dispensing the justice you seek, but Almighty God shall draw all men before Him where ever last line of history shall be justified.

If we do not fight evil it shall certainly progress, but it shall eventually be rooted out by God.  If we do not obey our calling, God’s Word will certainly be shouted by the rocks and trees for His plan will be executed regardless.  If we do not speak for truth, it shall not be tarnished by our cowardice, but remain pure, honest, righteous and true, even in defining our shame.  If we do not pray, the Lord will still bring every knee to bow and every tongue to confession.  If we will not shout the name of Jesus, His name shall be exalted by every created thing among us.  Our God has chosen us for service, it is an honor to be called the sons and daughters of God.  Stand and be of good courage, knowing beyond any whispered doubt that God shall fight for us and prevail over the hosts of enemy minions.  In the end I pray that we all be found with smiles upon our faces, knowing that we showed up and trusted God for the miracle, strength, courage and provision to win this, the greatest fight man has ever ventured.  Praise God in the Name of Jesus Christ the King

Don’t fear this

The Lord did not give us the spirit of fear but of love, power and of a sound mind.  This buoys us to the overwhelming pressure of fear paralysis, inoculates our minds from imaginary energy sucks, drives or influences and inures us to the use of fear in bullying unbelievers to salvation.  Certainly our senses of danger may be properly employed to warn of us of impending harm, but this is not the spirit crippling fear that calls us to abandon ship or flee our posts in utter despair.  We were meant to see fear, name it for its origin and then overcome its oppressive influence through faith, prayer and trust in God.

Face it, our enemy is thoroughly capable of destroying, deceiving and devouring each of us.  If not for God’s Divine protection we would most certainly be consumed in the devil’s quest to steal our lives, joy and eternal blessings.  However, take joy in that fact for it is not me that the devil fears, but Christ who lives in me.  Although he may deceive into believing my own inadequacy, my own unworthiness and my own lack of power, potency and protection to overcome his legions, this is all subterfuge, as though these all be true none of them is truly important.  For it is Christ who is worthy, Christ who overcomes the power of the devil, death and Hades and also Christ who strengthens/protects me.  Praise be to God that I am not waylaid by the grand deception that it is my strength, worth or ability which sustains me to stand in battle.   I have the power of the Holy Spirit to guide, prepare, arm and sustain me to complete any task which God has allotted for His Good purpose.

Please don’t fear me and if you do please let it be God’s Holy Word of correction spoken through me as vessel to which you pay homage.  I am a man, crafted of dirt as Adam but remade in Christ to become something beyond my own capacity.  My job is love, not fear, hate nor conquest.  Yes, I pray to take back lands ceded to the enemy by our lack of vigilance, but the power to overcome this usurpation is always that of God.  His Word is true, so let mine also reflect that justice.  I seek to capture your heart through care, win your allegiance through prayer and effective modeling and serve you in  those moments of greatest need.  Christ showed us the way when He washed the Apostle’s feet, for ours is the pride of service in reverence to our King.

Folks in coming months and years the enemy would have us palsied in overwhelming fright.  Darkness seeks to expand its domination of this world, knowing fully that time is short and Christ’s return approaches.  We must prepare our minds and hearts for these weighty impacts, remembering God’s word regarding the origin of fear.  We are to be strong and courageous, ever vigilant in our memory of the God we serve.  Christ died on the cross for all mankind, but many will resist belief and be indwelt by the unholy spirits of fallen.  We must not fall pray to their deceptive recommendation or twisting doctrine.  They will always seek to pollute that which is divine, so learn the Word of God, repeat the Word of God, brandish the Mighty Double Edged Sword of God’s Holy Word and the enemy will flee, himself in fear of Christ and the eventual judgment to which all wickedness approaches.

God has already overcome fear.  Let it not enter my ear, my thoughts or infect my heart, for I was not made for such things.  Stand with me Brothers and Sisters, hand and hand, side by side, singing hymns and songs of God’s Glory, even as we pass through shadow.  Know God, fear Him who might damn souls to eternal fire, but pay no such heed to other created beings, whether angel, man or other.  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.  I prefer love, for fear is not within me.  Praise God in Jesus Mighty Name.

Impending

The distance so great between me and nearest star, if God had meant us venture would they be so far?  If I cannot reach a place does that mean I should never try?  Just as God is beyond my thinking, He remains the object of my eye.  The will of evil men with atomic death devices, are likely to be utilized to fulfill their wicked vices.  Artificial intelligence, designer disease and altered genetic material may bring us to our knees, before painted fallen angels and their demons in a quest to find the keys, to a dungeon and burning lake created for their fate, as they unleash lasting anger, men targeted by their hate.  The powerful and the fattened, covet all the world’s wealth,  while children die in hunger and the poor languish lacking cash for good food and preventive health.  At some point not too distant a culling will be forced as man’s good will and their senses will voluntarily become divorced, the toughest part of justice is seeing it enforced, we all shall see the coming of Jesus, Lordly Horsed.

Take comfort in all intention, plan and scheduled hope, given by our God misunderstood by followers of a pope.  A one to one relation with no one in between, no governor, priest,  ambassador or even saintly queen.  This world must come to judgment most of it by our acts, check the population numbers, pollution, pandemics, war, the sum and reality of the facts.  We are headed toward a precipice whose bottom the abyss an unavoidable future an appointment none shall miss.  Man cannot solve these problems because he is after all just a man, susceptible to his own avarice, greed and the consumption of all that he can.  That is the reason God’s plan simply makes sense when reviewed and contemplated, nothing else stands up to reason every thought repeated or outdated.  Even Solomon in his splendor, his wisdom and his wealth could not escape man’s frailty with purchase, peace or stealth.  For death is looming, it comes to every man that is what makes this life so precious, the guiding promise of God’s Plan.  So put your faith in Jesus and look forward to eternal peace, until we see His coming this madness shall not cease.

Until

Ephesians 4:11-32

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.  This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.  But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.  Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.  Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.  Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Until the dawn, til the clouds part and our savior sets foot upon the Mount of Olives, for this we wait in patience.  Lord I see Your plan unfolding by the dark spirits that travel openly seeking to raise Your Creation.  Until Your Grace is withdrawn, they shall plunder, divide, diminish and deceive.  Until then Judgment will wait, but not for Your Glory, for it all points somehow providing insight to Your Majesty.  Until the sounds of battle, silence, I will stand with the shield of my faith, protecting my Brothers and Family as You have said that it would.  Until the sky is rolled up, falling stars littering the cosmos, I will gaze upon creation knowing it is but a clue to Your Sovereign Awesomeness.

What shall we wait upon if not for “until”.  For none of this is glory, but only tests, reflections, meanderings, diversions and wonders, set to capture our attention, while providing opportunities to rise above.  Until the moment we look into those fiery eyes and know that home for us is everlasting relationship.  Will I carry the cross made especially for me to wherever my God leads me?  I won’t know until I have succeeded.  What are we working toward, waiting upon, looking forward to?  What is that thing for you that makes you do whatever you must, stand what must be withstood, go where you should never be able?  Isn’t it simply “life” through Christ, with Christ, living in peace, contentment and service to each other to pleasure of Good Glory?  We humans crave this, paradise, this freedom, from the chaos, violence, wickedness, illness, poverty and pain of this existence.  Our disagreement and subsequently our purpose lie in the pathway to this paradise.  Where deceivers would have the bulk of humanity fooled by their own rebellion into believing that it can be collectively achieved by works, meditation, science, mysticism or cleverness, when there is but one path to Glory.

Jesus is the only way to God.  There is no tolerant way to speak the truth, for it cuts away obfuscation, deceit and flowery encumbrances.  We as Christians are left with only one stance.  It is not popular, just as warning of coming danger, whether fiscal, natural or war, our charge is to explain the need for salvation from coming judgment.  It is not my judgment, it is not up for discussion and this immovable truth, just as the commandments, leaves no room for wiggle.  God is waiting so that all who will come to salvation through belief in Jesus have had ample time to do so, for that is how much He loves us, all of us.  I cannot soften, water down, change, modify or adjust God’s Truth to make people feel better about its clarity.  That is beyond my station, my capacity or my will.  I do not want the ability to rewrite God’s Word, for it is already perfect in every way.  It demonstrates the love of the creator of every universe in that He would die for His own creation, so that we might be returned to good standing with Him.  It is man who allowed sin into the world, it is God who provided the way for us to be free, cleansed and removed from the power of our own sin.  It is therefore God who provides the door, the path, the avenue, the process.  That path is solely through trust in Jesus Christ, as God was named when He came to Earth.

I love people, I wish I had the ability to express how much I love people.  But in my humanity I want to scream at them for the things they consciously, daily and unabashedly do to each other, in the name of self service or preservation.  God’s Spirit, living within me bids me be eternally patient, understanding, kind, gentle and loving.  These are not my inherent qualities, but the characteristics of God He has grown within me.  For I often do not wish to forgive, yet I do, because God would have it so.  Until I become more like Him, I will not be able to understand the blind, irrational and frankly terminal behaviors of man.  Until I had a relationship with God, I was incapable of such compassionate understanding.  Lord, until You take me out of here or You come to set things right, I will be standing my ground, speaking Your Word, telling of Your Glorious Truth of salvation, judgment and coming Kingdom.  Give me all things that I will need to do the work you’ve set before me, until such my time is done.

One chance

This life, this one-way road, gives us one opportunity to get things right.  Some have concocted fairy tales to appease their terrible fright, allotting themselves thousands of chances to get it right.  Others are encumbered with the awful burden of measuring their goodness, needing to do one more good deed before time is up.  Some solve this collective dilemma by denying the existence of God, for if He is not there then there is no requirement to believe or be judged.  Others give into the merciless flesh, practicing every manner of sin attributable to man, hoping to remain aloof of reality.  Most of us realize the preciousness of life is that there is only one, and that so short.  Praise be to God, He has given me the opportunity to be free from sin’s burden, so that I may live this life in the knowledge of victory, never worrying what shall be done with my mistakes.

All things worth pursuing require the investment of time, treasure, maturity or sacrifice.  None of us wish for second best, though some times we settle for it or it becomes the only/best option as the sum of a string of poor choices.  But this realization is always accompanied by regret.  Certainly we may convince ourselves to be settled, or relatively happy, but all the time knowing that we somehow missed the true mark.  Isn’t it worth it to wait for God’ very best, giving everything we’ve got to reach the pinnacle of our probable/possible existence?  I don’t want regrets and each time that I settle for that which God did not intend for my life, I am always burdened with the reminder that I settled for less.  I pray to God that we all have the patience, courage and strength of character to pursue only God’s Will and wait on His Blessings.

Just as in free will, I suspect that life had to be designed this way to make it so valuable, it is crucial to value each passing moment with a knowledge that it will never be lived again.  I went to India and I was astounded that people just stepped over, ignored or mistreated the unfortunate or homeless.  They explained that the karma of their last life made them deserving of their current state, so everyone was justified in ignoring their plight.  How cruel we may become in freeing ourselves of guilt and obligation.  This life is mine, and I am solely accountable for my actions and inactions.  The inactions are often more painful than wrong actions, because I can be forgiven for making a mistake, but I will never see the opportunity to complete a missed divine appointment.  God let me be present in both mind and body for those appointments You have set before me.  Let me leave no stone unturned when it comes to my opportunities for message and ministry.

Recall

Time with You.  Spent in quiet.  Moments where troubles, thoughts, complications surrender to relationship in peace.  Questions asked, prayers extended, worship offered and blessings granted.  What of this thing, this kinship, permission to approach the King of the Universe as if we have known each other since birth?  How does this permeate my expression, my character, my resolve and determination?  Could even the greatest brigand, thief or deceiver convince you that your Father has disowned you?  Especially, when His written decree is there for you to gaze upon, know and remember.  Father, You are what this life has always been about.  Forgive for the moments when circumstances have convinced me otherwise or grabbed my attention, for a moment taking my gaze from concentration upon You.

What more precious than this time?  Time to be washed of worry.  A period of light which no darkness may dispel, nor effect.  The warmth of redemption and sanctification, being sharpened for battle, leading to everlasting peace among nations.  A King, worthy of every breath.  When foolishness is resolved, leaving its nonsensical mockery forever silenced.  The day when we need never worry for the well being of children.  For it shall come, just as the peace washes over each of us in prayer and time spent in presence of the King.

A calling higher

The past is filled with missed opportunities, avoided events and misstatements, allowing the grace of God under-utilization of this available vessel.  Some caused by personal resistance, most by diffracted focus, but the true motivator was lack of resemblance in Christ.  This world does not control my life with Christ.  I have been filled by the Holy Spirit of God, what then may stand against my dedicated efforts toward both spreading the Gospel Message or care for the sick, fatherless, widowed or poor.  Only my self, only me.  If there are no miracles happening, no break through moments, no private visions from God, must I then stand still in my walk through Grace expecting that my work is done?  The sole cause of my misspent moments is lack of growth in the facets of Spirit.  My future successes may be directly attributed to my willingness to be more like Him.  It is essential that I become “more” gentle, more patient, more loving, kind, righteous and long suffering.  Remaining on previous plateaus, with the same skills, experiences and wisdom of previous reproof will not properly prepare me to overcome the increasingly difficult obstacles awaiting me in future discipleship.

Growing in Christ requires a mode of endurance elusive to the lightly dedicated.  Those who have not fully surrendered to God will invariably run from the perfecting fires of worldly experience.  Intentionality leads to passionate plea for greater access and appropriate use of the fruits upon which each of our victories depend.  Apathy, fear, complacency, insufficient motivation, repetitive sinning and paralysis are the true daily enemies of saints.  Powers and principalities must be given permission to penetrate God’s defensive hedge, but our own internal nullification’s are free to assail us day and night.  If I continue making the same mistake again and again without adaptive employment of the Holy Spirit’s filling then shouldn’t I accept my own accountability to repeated failure.

People matter, and if I continue to treat them in an un-Godly fashion, how then will they see God in my behaviors?  My willingness to remain fleshly, inhibits and resists Spirit’s work, that is the joy of free choice.  Even the saved may determine to shut off, discount or ignore Spirit’s leading.  Will God simply leave us there in an unfinished state?  Certainly not, for we were bought at tremendous price, but the heat with which He must make further modifications shall logically increase.  So, if I keep making the same mistake with my wife, being insensitive to her wonderful and beautiful creation, then the cost of my continued lack of kindness must certainly be increased.  I must want to become more like Christ to assist in my own sanctification.  God may not provide me some earth shattering purpose for humanity but truth be told we are all called to become more and more like Him.  I am called higher to produce more bountiful fruits for Christ.  Just as a tree must expand in height and girth to sustain the weight of greater blossom, I must expand in my resemblance to Christ to support the evidenciary fruits of His labor in my life.

Model, mystery and maturity

The Lord has told us all that we need know, through His prophets via the scribes He chose to document His Word.  What does it all mean practically?  How am I supposed to make use of a document so large, so difficult to sift through or understand?  I sympathize with those who do not know where to begin not with them who are using a falsified complexity, which does not exist, to avoid learning scripture.  The Bible gives me comfort, joy, wisdom, ideas, direction and correction, each day.  It allows me to remain secure when hanging by a thread and find my way in the darkest night.  How do I make sense of the old testament in such a way that it applies to what is happening in this day and age?  I don’t think to hard about what I am reading, simply choosing by faith to accept it as fact.  I approach it in the following three step process.

The simplest way I seek to utilize the Bible is by first looking to the “model” of the people He chose to use in demonstrating His Love through the Word.  I then look for the “mystery”, that thing that I was meant to learn from reading, praying upon and contemplating the text.  Finally, I take steps to place into action the things I learned from reflective study, asking the Holy Spirit to intervene and “mature” me in my walk through faith.

Model; Abraham.  Abraham’s experiences with God delivered a road map by which to navigate the dangerous roads of this life.  He was a gentile, born in a Pagan land, chosen for his ability to believe as well as present the model of every Christian to follow.  We have all come from the land of unbelievers, just as Abraham, and through choice, belief and faith have now become God’s beloved.  Abraham was commanded to leave behind everything he knew, that God would show him where to go.  This is required of all believers as we must depart from the known, worldly practices and beliefs trusting God that we will be made new, directed and cared for by grace.  Abraham is a perfect model of the acquisition and practice of faith in the Promises of God.  Like us he continually made mistakes and repented, got up and renewed his faithful walk with God.

Mystery; Legacy.  Abraham’s legacy is Christ and the salvation of humanity through the creation of the Jewish people, leading to the birth, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as payment for a debt all of us owed but none could pay.  His faith the mystery we were meant to grasp in our human intention for no one may please God without it.  The mystery of Abraham’s blessings and challenges are modeled to represent how each of us must walk through life, keeping close to God, while understanding the impact of wandering from Him.

Maturity; Peace.  God meant for believers to be at peace, here on Earth, just as He is in heaven.  This peace only comes from understanding, having been washed in the Word long enough to arrive at a robust and trusting faith in the promises of Almighty God.  What then shall I take, this day from counsel and private time spent in the Word of God.  I shall take assurance in the maturity of peace that is afforded me as a gift from God through Christ Jesus.  Maturity often means listening to my brothers and sisters in faith, knowing that God will use them to sharpen, reprove, move and encourage me.  This is the peace of God which Abraham has shown us through His walk with God.  A promise of salvation, redemption and peace with God through belief in and a walk with Jesus Christ.

What does God want?

I wanted to do so much for you Lord, that when I am old I may remember the things I accomplished.  I wanted to bring my family to Your Throne, humbled in heart and mind, craving Your Word, Your Love.  I wanted to take them by storm, wow them with my deep thinking, nurturing their creativity and watching them flourish.  I had all these ideas and I waited on you, telling everyone of the glorious things I would do for You, but You never lit the fuse.  I needed cash to get my idea off the ground, but everyone resisted busting out their wallets.  Now I just ridicule them as being insufficient Christians, having not seen the wisdom in my quest to please God and rescue humanity.  I want to save the world, if only they will listen to my eloquence.  The problem with what I wanted to do is that only my will is truly served when each of my sentences begins with “I”.

How does the Lord wish to use me as a vessel for “His” Good Will?  That should be the beginning of each sentence I utter regarding any true purpose or service for the Lord our God.  If I keep praying for something and He continues to say no or just makes me wait then does it make sense to logically assert my own will in the gap, hoping to somehow bring glory to God.  Certainly He will use all things to the greatest good of His unfolding plan, even though I am unabashedly serving, self.  Have I searched the scripture and gone to the Lord through prayer thoroughly understanding His Will for my efforts or patience?  I say patience because, often in our quest for guidance, we are instructed to stand still and wait upon the Lord.  This appears to be the single hardest discipline for each Christian to accept, tolerate and then fully comprehend.  Patience, must like mature faith requires indwelling and movement of the Holy Spirit, thus it is something beyond our own ability.  We then must, “put aside” ourselves and mimic Christ’s behavior, not our own.  How then would going and taking actions, based on our own understanding begin this process of learning patience?  How does “I” at the beginning of each sentence in any way reflect an inclination to walk according to God’s Will for my life?

Lord lead us, provide for us, give us strength, courage and love when it comes to fulfillment of Your Will.  Keep us from self serving temptation.  Let us not go astray by hearing noisier voices then Your Peaceful, Quiet Wisdom.  Praise God, do His Will alone.  In Jesus Name.
