The Way

So many paths lay before the feet of Man. Tossed about by the waves of indecision and personal dependence we may find ourselves searching water, land and sky for some indication of the best route. That is the price of errant wisdom, absent understanding or reliance upon the voice of self direction. Who do you trust, and why?

Some of us have paid the price of elevated self esteem or too consistent self reliance. If I have no wisdom to share yet consistently demand that my voice is the only one worth following, I am in a world of heart before I’ve begun any venture. Is it then prerequisite to finding the correct path through life a humbling event or wisdom injection invalidating the superiority of self reason and reliance? Apparently, until that event occurs the divinely inspired path through or beyond this life is unavailable.

Additional concerns regarding opposing deceivers demand caution in listening to any suggestion along the way. Why? because trust is a commodity rarely purchased without pain. We must put to test those recommendations and so often find them false having had to pay the price of dependence upon their wisdom. Not all voices may be trusted and must be tested to determine their worth. Just as with the voice of self, there are influences who either know very little about what they are suggesting or take pride in leading those trusting astray. We must then develop a mature discernment for recommendation and fully determine who and how we will determine voices worthy of reliance.

This is the dilemma of the worldly, for they may never know whom to trust until having lost some skin in the game. That is not so with God, for every Word that proceeds from His Mouth is viable and productive food for the journey. Everything that God tells us to do or direct us toward is safe, sound, consistent and reliable for he has no false spirit nor does he delight in leading any astray. The Way that God sets before each person is built upon foundation, wisdom, trust and strength. Therefore those who choose to trust God are always headed the right direction and toward the best available destination. And that humbling moment and turn from self reliance occurs at the admission or confession of sinfulness. So, those who trust in God have already been rid of the false sense of security associated with self belief.

Jesus provided the road map to the only path to everlasting life when the veil of this life is traversed. It is a path that requires attention, listening, learning, growth and enduring qualities for none of the lessons are easy and most require transformation. However once on the path and attention paid to consistently following the inerrant direction of God’s Word each believer may be assured with direction, purpose and destination. Trust in God is Sure IN deed. In this certainty men who have taken to the Way have an independence of thought from the world around them and a reliance of surety placed upon the Lord.

Don’t you want to always go the right direction, speed and end up where you wanted to go? Don’t you want to be able to trust every recommendation and avoid the pitfulls and back tracking associated with poor directions? Don’t you want to escape the implications of having traveled the wrong road, the dangerous road or the road fraught with disturbance? There is one path certain, one path sure beyond all others, one voice worth following and one savior who delivered us from Sin and Death. His Name is Jesus, The WAY the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father but through Him.
