Is courage stored by the brave to be called upon from reserve as frightful circumstance demands action? Or are we bereft of potential action only to find ourselves overcoming when called upon by that small quiet voice urging forever forward? Who and what determines the presence, filling or availability of courage but the instance into which is must be injected? Can it be purchased? Is it assured or are men simply relegated to reaction in such manner that defies their history and rises above any adversity? If it is not predetermined and cannot be assured then certainly God has hand upon those who shall arise in battle with requisite measure to overcome. Or is it just as in righteousness that His Courage is imbued to the account of them who believe?

Who knew what he would do when confronted with the loss of me and you? Is the trial the trigger, the opportunity or the measure of valor? Are we destined to make that choice at vital moment chancing all, throwing caution to wind and surmounting defense or attack sufficient to suppressing enemy fire? Is it pure chance and epinephrine? Or are some men given the pregnant moments in which to excel for God’s own divine purpose? What then ascertains the depth of courage given to men acting in concert to save their loved ones or stand for their nation against all odds, most often beyond the impossible? Why can some small groups become contagious in bravery prompting those around them to rewrite history such that the small defeated much larger or superior forces?

We don’t know what we will do until the bell tolls, yet some are inclined to step forward into valor and those around them know it before hand. They know who shall move first, who shots will find their mark whose sword arm shall over power all enemies. What is this quality of men and women that allow them to choose reckless abandon over caution, defensive action over self protection, service over concern? Courage is tied deeply to love, for in its protective envelope we find Mothers giving all for children, Fathers standing beyond expectation in defense of land and family and children able to withstand brutality and trial beyond expectation when forced to endure in hope. Lord teach us to find this courage as needed for we are in that season where it is the greatest asset and treasure.

In Jesus Name may we stand doing the impossible empowered by God’s Holy Spirit that we may overcome all that confronts US in love, Hope and Bravery beyond normal measure.
