Do we seek Earth shattering revelations from our relationship with God? Or is it the slow, steady and timely progress of transformation and sanctification that we pursue? This sensationalism of unraveled mystery within the faith and some predictive prophecy is alluring but it is truly the intention God has for the faithful?

Many seek excitement, where there was meant to be duty, work and joyous realization of impact and affect. What is it that we are looking for from a deeply, defined relationship with Almighty God? Is is personal authority and power, as the sorcerer Simon? Or are we content to be the servants of that small quiet voice’s direction in Kingdom establishment and comfort to the those in need?

This world develops some grand expectations of Christianity that we end up buying the teeshirt and expecting to do some grand thing for Christ, instead of simply listening to God and volunteering to His plan for our lives. The expectations game is often a stumbling block to growth within the faith as we believe God may ask us for the moon and He really only wanted us to serve locally. We ought not be driven by the world’s expectations or even our own with regard to a plan that is specifically God’s to tender.

I know what He has asked of me and it is beyond what I can personally accomplish without Spirit, but it is not some save Israel, deliver the nation type of requirement. Rather I find some grand measure of contentment in the fact that my duty for the King is basically that of the average disciple, Spread the Word, Love God and Love the People He Created, looking skyward in expectation of His Glorious Appearing.

It is impossible for me to predict what He would have for you to do, your purpose. It is essential to find this on our own as we grow closer to God, for most often that purpose lay within the trials that each face in its pursuit. This world has no understanding of God’s Wisdom, spiritually rooted application nor fealty to the hereafter, it simply wants now or wants treasures saved for a time of limited earnings. The complexities of God are beyond my understanding but available for me to attempt. For in the stretch and search for that comprehension we begin to see the evidences left along the way to assure us of careful, precise and timely planning designed specifically for each of us.
