Habits

How do I face each day, ritually?  Do I do the same things each morning I rise, taking time to turn up the heat, start the coffee, brush teeth, put on clothes and prepare to meet the day?  Then, I look to clock, maybe check my email, catch the headlines, answer vmails, discord, other forms of communication and begin to ponder my day.  That clock again, beckoning that time is short and I have to tidy things up and get out the door.  Oh, what the heck I don’t have time to read the Bible, chat with God or sit here in meditation upon The Goodness of His Word.

Considering that David made tremendous mistakes each time he went into his day without first convening with the Lord for direction, do I really want to start each day this way without first spending time with God?  I mean God did call David a man after his own heart, right?  Why then would such a man make decisions that weren’t first checked against God’s Will?  I don’t know, we will have to ask him when we meet him following rapture.  However, I am certain it had to do with two things, service to self and second, bad habits.

How do I know what God wants?  Easy, are your choices consistent with His Word?  Are your choices tested in prayer, giving time to listen for God’s feedback through fellowship?  And finally, are your decisions consistent with the Holy Spirit’s voice inside your head and heart?  If those three are not in the affirmative then you ought be concerned about the day into which you are headed.  The Lord wants us to walk with Him, to be dependent upon Him for everything, that includes for those rebel few of you, making decisions or starting your day.  If you find yourself accommodating the Bible, prayer or the Holy Spirit’s voice with the few seconds you have left after everything else has been attended, the IS GOD IN FIRST POSITION IN YOUR LIFE?  If he isn’t don’t you think that it would be best, right now, to make an adjustment to your daily rituals to give Him the rightful position that He deserves and commands?

I pray that the Lord leads you into each and every thought, word, action and dream throughout this day and every other.  In Jesus’ Name.
