Freedom, joy, courage, character, Love, direction, peace, wisdom, understanding, surety, confidence, reason, fellowship, family, purpose, cleansing, character, strength, wealth, health, faith, support, relationship, depth, hope, quality, consistency, knowledge, insight, discernment, should I continue with the benefits of knowing Christ?
And I am willing to bet that you have a list as long or greater than my own of those positive effects of your relationship with the Lord through Jesus. Considering the overwhelming positivity available to each of us how then could we even for a moment have a negative outlook concerning our place in this world or the next? How is it possible that a Christian could be depressed for any reasonable length of time? I mean we all get down because of the emotions surrounding negative events, but they should subside and they aren’t is there perhaps a larger difficulty?
When we are imbued with the aspects of the Holy Spirit and the benefits of surety associated with complete dependence on a Holy and Righteous God who promised he would never leave, then we become powerful as humans. Yes, I said it we become powerful humans. We are a peculiar people who laugh in the face of overwhelming challenges and have courage in the midst of chaos and empathy for those in difficulty, sickness or approaching death. For we understand the implications of life and consequently death that faces each of us. That knowledge again makes us an asset in worldly affairs. Wait I thought we are not supposed to be in the world because we are not of the world? Why do you think we are here, then?
If we are having a hard time with this live under the protection, provision and persistent promises of Almighty God, then how hard a time do you believe that unbelievers are having. Sin is no fun, it ruins the man or woman behind its mask. They know that, it is just that they don’t know anything different. Well guess what, Glory be to God that He has designated us the mouthpiece of that wisdom to set them all free. If you are sitting there enjoying the fruits of your relationship with God then honor Him and those gifts by discipling to every one you can. If you are depressed then maybe you ought to review the list of positive gifts above, or perhaps make your own. If you don’t know Christ then I wish you would listen to one of us so that you too can live that assured life in this world and the next. In Jesus’ Name I pray.
