Entitled

There are so many who demand that I prove to them that God exists.  I say to them this is a fool’s argument and ask in answer, prove to me that He doesn’t.  They do not like this requirement, for it is equally unachievable.  I do not bare the burden of your unbelief.  I want that all should come freely to the knowledge of the Truth, but I cannot drag, coerce or force your arrival, just as I cannot make a horse drink.  That is why belief and faith are so precious, because although they are voluntary they carry eternal consequence.  There is no other topic in life that has the intrinsic weight as does determining one’s belief in God through Christ.  I sympathize with your unbelief, it is excruciating.  However, each of us has the personal gravity of this choice to be made individually within the confines of our time on this planet.  You may believe what you wish to believe for that is the love of God to give free will to each of us.  But just because we have free will to live life as we choose does not remove the consequence of that choice.  God’s World, God’s rules.  Sorry, I cannot absolve you of that dilemma.

Why is it so important to you to change my faith, to show me what you believe are the errors of my ways?  This antagonistic and controlling urgency is evidence of your desire to run from the Truth of God, no matter the cost.  For a man who constructs a house of cards must surround himself with people who will never mention the illusion.  One child with the will to proclaim that the king has no clothes dispels the delusion.  Therefore all who sin will eventually segregate themselves from them who would bring to mind the abomination of their circumstance.  Or they will force everyone around them to come into line with the self-proclaimed justification and acceptability of their sin.  For reality must be changed, made malleable to avoid the nagging voice of conscience.  Romans 1 tells us that every man knows the truth of God and that when we turn away from that truth we are turned over to our own decadence.  We all know that God is there and that He is God, but if we rebel against that truth we shall be blinded to the truth in pursuit of our own desire, left alone to wallow in the mire of our chosen pigpen.  How ever you adorn a pig he is still at home in filth.  This does not invalidate the truth of God, it merely ignores that tragic, imminent day of reckoning where each of us must come to reality and judgment.

I am accountable for my sins against the Will of God.  The penalty He assigned for my sin is that I am appointed to die.  I cannot escape it, redefine it, ignore it, argue it, run away from it nor make remuneration for its impact.  If left in my condition I had no hope, but God provided a solution to my tragedy.  He came here, lived a perfect life and then paid my penalty, freeing me from the obligation over which I had no authority.  He died in my place, wearing the stain of my sin upon His soul.  I am set free from the weight of my condemnation through belief in the Truth of the Gospel.   I will not dishonor that loving sacrifice, made by a Holy God to accommodate your rebellious disobedience and denial of what we all know to be truth.  Choose for yourself, but make that choice wisely as the consequences are either eternal gratefulness in life or eternal regret in death.  I will not be codependent in your self-constructed illusion for I love you too much to do so.  Hating me or persecuting my brethren will never alleviate the gravity of your decision, it will only provide momentary, mood-altering catharsis.  I love you and pray that you find peace through Christ Jesus our King.

In Jesus’ Holy Name I pray for each of you this and every day of my life.
