Active vs Passive

Study to show yourself approved.  Present your bodies a living sacrifice.  Walk in the Spirit.  Put on the whole armour of God.  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.  Hear the word of the Lord.  Praise the Lord, all nations!  I must ask the Lord for forgiveness for those who do not know what they are doing.  I must not judge or personally interpret the motivations of a man’s heart, for I am incapable of truly knowing anyone’s heart.  Besides some things are God’s prerogative.  However, I will make a simple observation.  Christianity is entirely an active faith and where we see inaction, lethargy, complacency and passivity, we are certain that the Holy Spirit is not in position of priority.

The Bible calls us to action, certainly there are times when we are told to wait upon the Lord, but that is to develop patience, dependence and a faith walked out by His Will, so that His plan guides our actions, not so we can feel comfortable remaining sedentary.  We are not a people who were ever meant to stand still, congregate without purpose or become members of an organization then bask in the benefits.  We are workers for the harvest, and work is an active pursuit.

We were designed to leave the 99 and go search for the one.  That does not mean we spend our time as the Jehovah’s Witness or Mormon’s or any other socially inspired organization, combing the neighborhoods for new recruits.  It is not about my, your or anybody’s church as a functional organization, business or effective membership structure, it is about going to all corners of the Earth, spreading the Good News of Christ, planting seeds that He might germinate, grow, feed, water and harvest.

We have a problem, Houston.  If the church owns millions of dollars of hard assets and does no local mission work, revivals, soup kitchen work, homeless support, hospital/elderly visitation, remains ignorant of widows, orphans or the poor and takes no active participation against social travesties, then we have become a passive facsimile of what Christ intended.  Membership is not Biblical, keeping track of my tithe is not Biblical, staying within the church and never venturing out to find the lost, for the purpose of spreading the Good News of Christ is not Biblical.

Why then have we fallen pray to the predictable script of two songs, several announcements, praise, prayer and 30 minutes of professional pastory on an elevated dais, then one more song, maybe an altar call and dismissal to brief fellowship and socialization?  And this is a nation wide, denomination wide, possibly global phenomena.  Why are all the churches following the same agenda, format and schedule?  Granted, when I say all there are always those who remain outside the mold.  Not wishing to have an Elijah type rebuke by the Lord where He tells me that even this day there are many who never bowed to Baal, I must concede the generalizations.

My dilemma remains. I have the choice between three options, remain silent and suck it up, walk away from the church who is caught up in worldly structure and pursuits or speak out, taking the likely chance that I will be disliked, ostracized, persecuted or ignored.  I do not want to call pastors, elders and deacons out, but isn’t that we are called to do?  Wake up folks, if I am wrong I will gladly apologize and seek silence, but what if I am right?  How have we been caught up in this sham, having been deceived into abdicating our Ambassadorial authority?

We have quenched the Holy Spirit to a point that we no longer recognize His power, authority and voice in the Church.  People are truly astounded when they see His Power, to the point that they do not know what to do, run away or toward His presence.  Where is the healing, where are the massive conversions of conviction, where are the revivals, where are the hearts turning back to the Lord in droves, answering the Spirit’s Call?

People have been forced into membership groups where those who are on the list get the services, honor, respect and care while those who aren’t remain outsiders, typically, eventually and invariably leaving the church body.  Membership segregates, presenting barriers to entry that decrease Church efficacy with the surrounding public.  People are told that Christianity is inclusive, but what they see is no different then worldly club structure.  Certainly, behavior may be a bit better, less slander, cursing, back-biting and wickedness but the worldly structure is consistent with those organizations we see in work, home or play.  People are looking for something different.

The Church does not belong to bank or does it?  The Church does not belong to its largest contributors or does it?  The Holy Spirit indwells every believer, or does it?  We are all equal members of the Body of Christ.  All Christians are saints, princes/princesses and priests.  There is no ruling class as in Catholicism for this is the practice of the professional clergy vs the laity that Christ “hated” in Revelation.

I want to serve Christ in a Church body where we are all preachers, teachers, prophets, healers, administrators and servants of each other for Christ.  Certainly God accounts for the oxen eating from the harvest but we have taken that and superimposed over top the worldly structure of a top down leadership that Christ never intended.  I cannot afford good clothing, so I must sit in a place where I am seldom noticed for my poverty.  I am often filthy for having worked or been in the field spreading love and the Good News to the lost and the lame.  My family, my brothers and my sisters are caught up in drugs, alcohol and sinly pursuits.  Must I fain that this is not the truth, choosing to keep these realities to myself in hopes of being acceptable to a group of elders that never really loved me in the first place?  All I wish to do is love people, all people including the lost as Christ told me to do.  I wish to spread the gift of Grace I was first given, when He found me and set me free from sin and death.   I should be refreshed when coming into the Church body not thrown into greater anxiety caused by an attempt to measure up to rules, membership and monetary regulations I have no hope of meeting.

Please forgive me for working out my salvation with fear and trembling.  Please forgive me for presenting my frustration in a way that may elevate your anxiety.  Please forgive me for saying things that make you feel uncomfortable, unless and I pray this is the case that these words are those placed upon my heart by the Holy Spirit of God.  I must speak out.  I feel compelled to tell this truth, ask these questions, convict even myself regarding my ridiculous action.  I will therefore accept the repercussions of my choice in speaking out.  Lord I pray that I have done Your Work this day and brought people closer to the knowledge of the Truth.  Please forgive me if I have offended You or pushed anyone further away from that moment of acceptance and salvation.  In Your precious name I pray to the Father, Lord Jesus Christ the King.

Not my own

What ties you to this life, is it a dream, a family or marking time?  Are you spiritually centered, connected to the universe, convinced that all things are one and one all things?  Does it all seem foolish, these child-like characters trying so hard to impress a God you’ve never seen?  Can you save them, staunch their wounds, find them food and shelter long enough to stem the tide of guilt or shame?  Or do the lights feed your cravings?  Seeing me, about me, regarding me with whom else but me.  What do you truly feel about the unborn, slain before their time?  I know you feel that there is more than justified reason and choice, but what do you truly think when you think upon a disallowed child?  Is there some universal accounting in this force you seek or is there no destiny, no price, no victory?

Is it important for each of us to determine a personal definition of evil and good?  Or are we free of these things, simply applying the principals associated with being in Rome, doing what a Roman does?  Is life and character transmutable, malleable, ductile, as clay in the hands of a wanton child, proclaiming innocent perspective and selfish understanding?  I cannot hear your heart over the overwhelming echo of my own shouted, no and mine.  Why do we get up each day facing the wind, standing with courage if there is nothing worthy of the fight?  Certainly there must be something for which you would struggle?  Life cannot simply be about your four walls, good tires and the umbrella moments.  The question is not so much for what you would die, but for what you live?  And if I live for something then have I an established position, role, character, upon which I mount my defense or assault?  If life is about standing for something then why would I ever achieve anything substantive by expending all my efforts so that I may spend the maximum available time upon my keester?

Yes, this life is about the struggle, yes, it is about the fight.  The problem is that each of us gets to determine the nature and the purpose of our battles.  Why a problem, because given the self defining aspects of this purpose driven struggle, then what happens when we cannot even agree on what is worthy of the fight?  If you are fighting for more relaxation and I am fighting to free children from poverty or bondage, we ourselves are going to be in a conflict over time, treasure and resources.  That is the danger of the original sin, for we determine the definition of what is good and evil, we become our own gods.  No longer are we perfectly aligned with the Creator’s design and purpose, but now we choose our own calling, fighting for what we deem worthy of our expended days.  You see if enough people decide, collectively, in agreement that what God says is evil is now proclaimed good, we are then forced into defiance of God by cooperating with the majority.  And equally we are subjected to being named with evil by those who want to redefine, ignore or mock God’s intention.

So that being understood, worldly determined purpose is unveiled, reduced to its common factors; God said one thing and if we say another.  We are then self-defined as anti-God.  And if we do not believe in God’s offer of salvation through Christ then we are subsequently, anti-Christ.  You see, I would love to define the world in my own image, making my own rules so that I am free of obligation, accountability and fault, for that is the nature of my selfish internal man.  However, I also do not want the responsibilities of being God, preferring to let Him define His universe and simply complying with the rules He’s proclaimed.  It is not easy, and it immediately puts me at odds with those who have redefined good and evil according to their own perspective.  I do not wish to be at odds with man, but I much less wish to be at odds with God.  So again I am left with a choice, for after all that is what this life has always been about, a choice.  I choose God and hope that you do as well, but I understand that He loves you enough to let you choose otherwise.

You see I did not define my own purpose in this life, it was given me by a Holy God.  There are requirements of a man who serves God those being that I want to listen and obey God’s intention for my life, out of reverence, compliance and to achieve maximum fulfillment.  I must then also accept that I will not be able to please many who have chosen some other ambition, drive or god.  I pray to encourage you to do good today, but as you may define good in a different manner than does God.  I must then hope that you obey God and do good today for the purpose of His good Will.  The Bible says that there is a way that seems right to a man but its steps lead directly to Hades.  Won’t you at least seek God’s definition first before embarking on a path leading to such a horrible, permanent place?  I pray that your eyes are opened to the absolute, immutable Truth of God and I hope that I have planted the seed of your inquiry.  Praise God in Jesus’ name.

What’s under the basket?

What is that thing, that gift you are afraid to show the world, but when alone brings you closer to God?  Are you a closet painter, dancer, designer or writer?  Do you have the unique talent of quieting stormy arguments or healing broken hearts?  Are you the one who ends up feeding everyone when they are too tired to care, bringing them back to themselves?  Are you an amazing orator, story teller or crooner?  What thing or things do you have that would amaze the world if they knew?  I am not talking about secrets or evil thoughts, even though there will be some who have forsaken the light, using their talent for wickedness.  I am talking about the things, righteous and pure that give hope, healing, patience, peace or insight.  Who did God make you to be that you aren’t showing the world?

I like to sing, write, hug, listen, dream, design and bandage the wounds of those who will trust me to give them comfort.  I may be good at worldly tasks, like business, bills or building, but these gifts were meant for God’s Good Purpose.  When properly applied, even when shy or uncomfortable, the Lord allows me to make a real difference in the lives of those around me.  Isn’t that purpose?  Isn’t that happiness?  Isn’t that wealth?  Certainly there are times when I daydream I were in position of authority, but that passes as I listen to the dreams of a child.  For I am in authority, the authority of King Jesus, to proclaim the light to a world captured by darkness.  Where are your greatest successes?  Are they on a wall in an “I love me” room so that you might be reminded of your feats?  Or are they the peaceful minds, hearts and prayers of those who remember the love you gave them when they could not even for a moment imagine themselves worth loving?

What then have you been withholding from this desperate world?  That talent that would inspire or catch to fire the kindling of spiritual fuel in the lives of those who remain dormant, misdirected or deluded?  Can you show them Christ without showing them the Spiritual Gifts He has given you?  You are the miracle they were meant to behold, the transformed mind they so desperately desire.  Will you keep your light under the basket of shame, disbelief or self-service or will you come into view, chancing all for the opportunity to lead someone to salvation?  Give me your gifts and I will show you discipleship.  They cannot help but be moved when they see and are amazed at what God has done within you, through you, beyond you.  Step into the spotlight for that moment, the moment it takes for people to see briefly the Light of Christ.  We are princes and priests, representing a Holy and Mighty God, whispering of coming Glory.  Will you show them your resemblance to the King of Everything?  Dance for us, let us see God, please, I pray show me His Light.

Father I thank you for this week and the sights I have seen and the people with whom I am amazed.  They were truly your greatest gift to me, with them I will never meet despair.  For in their eyes, tears, song and care I see You clearer each and every day.  Praise Your Holy Name, Jesus I love You.

Nothing left to do

Stop trying, start freely and openly surrendering the misaligned areas of your life to God.  Christianity is not about trying harder, or being good enough or even about building your patience through perseverance.  These things we want changed require an expert physician, a healer who may transform past occurrences into future successes.  They require the only one capable of forgiving our sin and removing its stain to allow a rebirth.  I am not patient, but the Lord is teaching me patience.  I have some frustration issues but I know that the Lord is covering me with His Love and removing my desire to control every outcome.  I am often incapable of forgiving my enemies and those who have hurt me yet strangely as the Lord works in my spirit at some point my grudges, upset and unforgiveness disappear.  That is the Spirit of Almighty God at work in each believer, transforming, softening up fallow ground making us more like Him.

What then am I to do as a “good” Christian if not deeds?  This is the most difficult part for human beings to grasp.  We are so captured by the world’s idea of success being tied to performance that we bring this concept into the churches even requiring others to rise to our own poor understanding.  Eternity is not about the things that I do.  It is about the things that “HE HAS ALREADY DONE”.  Certainly we are being sanctified to spend eternity with a Holy God but that is a process accomplished through belief, surrender and works of the Spirit of God, not by us.  Yes, I must stand in good courage fully rooted in the knowledge of the presence of God in my life, but I am not meant to win any battle because the battles we fight are with powers and principalities over which we personally have no impact.  Hallelujah they have been defeated by Jesus and are subject to His authority that dwells in each of us.  So, if we remind them whom we serve, pulling the two-edged sword of His Word they must flee, but that has nothing to do with my works only my understanding, faith and walk.

Yes, the Lord has given me directives, tasking and objectives but they are His objectives, His outcomes, His Plans, not my own.  Therefore I am absent responsibility for the outcome only the attendance and surrender.  He will complete that which He first started in each of us.  He is steadfast, righteous and faithful.  He loves you I hope that you know that.  No, I hope that you get it way down deep inside where it really matters.  For words like hope, faith and love don’t require evidence or knowledge akin to man’s intelligence or legal support.  Let me demonstrate.  Do you love your Father and your Mother?  You say, of course.  Prove it.

Yes, I know God loves me.  Yes, I do what He wants me to do because I love and respect Him.  I am not looking for a crown, but He will give me one, or perhaps more.  I am not looking for a house, though He will give me a mansion.  I am not looking for this life to last forever, though He HAS GIVEN ME ETERNITY.  I am not perfect, but He is shaping to me in His perfect image.  I try because I want to not because it earns me anything.  I want to please my Father, that is natural for a loving son.  My job is to love Him and love you.  Loving you enough to tell you how to be set free from sin and death.  Loving you enough to introduce you to our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Loving you enough to give you what I have been given, freeing you from what you have mistakenly thought that you need to do.  I cannot earn a place in heaven, I have been given one.  Praise the name of God, through Christ Jesus I pray.

This day

Thankful in trouble and pain.  Lord that I would see Your hand at every elbow in this road of life.  That I would have a joyous heart on the field of battle, looking forward to approaching victory.  May my life be a light for others to quizzically follow leading to Your Love.  May I never walk alone remaining aware of Your unrelenting presence.  May I hold tight to the hands of those who stumble, supporting, loving, encouraging them in their triumphs and trials.  May I be found worthy of the gift, having accepted the underlying challenge of re-gifting to as many as will listen and believe.  Give us this day a memory of Your great love for mankind, demonstrated by a miracle birth, a joyous walk, a devout heart of prayer and service, leading to freedom from sin and death through a life voluntarily surrendered and retaken.  You are alive and today we celebrate Your birth among us for the purpose of a gift none deserved but all needed.  May we all find hope, forgiveness and challenge in Your sacrificial blessing.

I am not meant to know the end but know that the end is coming and it shall be as You’ve foretold.  For faith, devotion and belief are our greatest treasures, basking in the knowledge of the future, enjoying the bounty of the present and healed from the wounds of our past.  What may I give that I have not first been given?  I am assured, my worry removed, leaving tomorrow in concern for itself.  May all choose to be set free from their personal prisons, being emancipated from their custom designed bondage.  I do not remember my sin, but watch for it as I stumble into the mires of my own life.  Forgive me as I trespass against You and against my fellow humans in an attempt to be good enough, having been fooled momentarily by deception.  Let me see with eyes of discerning Truth.

May You richly bless those who await Your Coming.  May Your Glory be represented in Power, Authority and Clarity from the mouths of babes, pastors and prophets.  May the news of Your Grace be found written in bold print across the internet for a waiting world.  Oh, that Your Love be felt by all so that they might accept hope, foundation and faith.  This day I celebrate Your Birth as a man which brought real-world proof of Your Promised Salvation.  On this day several thousand years ago You demonstrated the extent of Your Love for all mankind.  You are the living God who loved us enough to leave Glory in order to participate, sacrificially to save Your Creation from eternal separation and darkness.  Into the light I walk my arms outstretched accepting Your embrace.  Thank You for loving us that much.  I pray that I extend that love through Your Powerful Spirit to all I meet.  Praise God in Jesus’ Holy Name.

Blessings

What comes to mind when you picture blessings?  Are they occurrences that may be recounted, situations that turned out our way or just nice words that we say to each other at holiday events?  How do you view your own blessings?  Do you have to “feel” blessed to believe that you have received a blessing?  Merriam Webster defines blessings as;

Simple Definition of blessing

  • : approval that allows or helps you to do something

  • : help and approval from God

  • : something that helps you or brings happiness

Full Definition of blessing

  1. 1 a :  the act or words of one that blesses b :  approval, encouragement

  2. 2 :  a thing conducive to happiness or welfare

  3. 3 :  grace said at a meal

Approval, encouragement, help, these are not standard definitions that I receive as feedback when I ask people about blessings.  Certainly, we understand the idea of approval associated with a parent consenting to or giving their blessing to a request for the hand of their child in marriage, but for the most part people say that blessings are “good times” or good things that happen in your life.  How did we get away from the idea of blessings being “help and approval” from God?  That would mean that to be blessed is something that depends upon a dispenser of approval, encouragement or help.  The evolutionist would have us believe and are frankly forcing feeding the idea to our children, that life is simply a series of random occurrences.  They would have us give up the idea of blessing originating of being given by a Loving Creator, in exchange for the good luck outcomes of an entitled or lucky society.  If approval and encouragement are the main constructs of a blessing than this requires the subjective review of the recipients behavior and the positive support to continue toward a particular, positive outcome.  Blessings are built upon the sovereign authority of the giver not the wishes and definitions of the receiver.  Even in asking blessings over a meal the speaker is requesting to receive sovereign blessing over the food or participants.

How then are we to understand the blessing of Christmas without a solid understanding of the giver of that tremendous blessing.  Isaiah 9:6-7  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.  In order to fully comprehend the blessing of this passage must now look at the blessing from the perspective of the subjective giver of that blessing.

What is God’s approval, encouragement or help given unto us as the passage implies?  What are the benefits of us being given a child, a son, upon whose shoulder will rest the kingdom and government without end?  Do we really remember or comprehend that the Lord’s Zeal with get all this done?  So here we have approval, God’s approval for a son who is to deliver peace, increase, order, counseling, wonderment, judgment and eternal justice.  We have encouragement for all men in that God is among them and will deliver all the aforementioned blessings.  We also have the help sent to us by God so that we might someday be happy, that some day being based upon our acceptance and understanding of this hopeful blessing.  This blessing is also fulfillment of God’s promises to Adam, Eve, Noah, Abraham, Issac, Joshua, David, Israel, the world as well as delivery on the promise to crush satan’s head with the child of the woman, Jesus being the seed of Eve.

Celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is a righteous and joyous recognition of the blessings of God upon all men.  Who would not wish to celebrate this approval, this grand encouragement and this help for our salvation, happiness and peace?  Those against this acknowledgement of our blessing should be recognized for this odd behavior and then forgiven for their blindness.  They have blinded to the existence of an Almighty God who approves of His children.  They have been robbed of the encouragement given unto us by our Loving Father.  And they have denied the help offered to all men in our pursuit of peace and happiness.  I pray for the realization of this the greatest of man’s blessings so that all man might have hope in God’s participation in our walk through life.  In Jesus’ precious and wonderful name.

The wellspring of Hope

Where are you finding hope for the future of your family?  Are you encouraged by the performance of our leaders, sacrificing, wisely choosing those determined avenues leading to prosperity, honor and security?  Is there safety in your things, your treasures, maybe hope is found in your double digit annual returns?  Do you look into the eyes of your children and find assurance for America or the world?  Does their resilience and confident grasp of the solutions to life’s dilemma provide you bastion from the apparent chaotic, global environment?  Is your safety found in your own ability to overcome, maybe your ebullient capacity to deal with the great issues confronting humanity; poverty, pestilence, cancer and war?  If you are finding the basis for your hope in all these things why then do you have any need for God?

Have you read the Book of Revelation?  And if not, how do you know how God’s Plan turns out?  Did you know that reading of this book promises the reader blessings?  One of those blessings is hope.  Hope in the most talked about event in the Bible, Old Testament and New, the Second Coming of Christ our Lord.  Do you understand that we will live together with God in the City of “New Jerusalem” that He brings to Earth upon its remaking?  Did you know that Jesus will rule with an Iron Rod, never again allowing the wickedness of humanity to decay our lives?  Do you take hope in the fact that we will never experience war again, no disease and no fear as the lion lives peacefully with the lamb?  Do you know that we will be given glorified bodies that never grow old, get sick or die?  Why when our hope is supposed to be in Jesus would Pastors refuse or avoid teaching the Book of Revelation?  Perhaps they wish for you to place your hope in them.  Isn’t this vanity, foolishness and a recipe for failure when we have already established that hope may not be found in the people, idols or things of this world?

Humanity, has no hope in science as we continue to find better ways to kill each other or release powers over which we have no governing capacity.  Humanity has no hope in leaders who continue to demonstrate their selfish motivations to leave a historical legacy proclaiming their own greatness.  Humanity has no hope in gold as the richest among us still dies at the end of a short lived life.  We were meant to give our children hope, not the other way around, we cannot find safety in living vicariously through children who share not our views, philosophies or policies.  There is no hope but Jesus.  We cannot continue to deny the realities of this life, placing false hope in the men and women who have gotten into the our present circumstances to suddenly find it in their hearts to reverse course.  In fact, that course would lead us back to the only solution, a humble return to our roots firmly planted in the righteousness of God.  We have finally grown a generation of children who do not know God.  Doesn’t that sound strangely familiar?  Oh, yes, that is what God said would happen when we depart from Him.  Unfortunately He also told us of the results of that abandonment and we are seeing those impacts clearly running rampant throughout our once blessed nation.

If you want hope cry out to God in Jesus’ Name.  Humble yourselves, Christians, and pray to God, repenting of your sins against God and He will hear our voices in Heaven and turn His face back to this country healing this land.  Hope and peace are things of God, found through faith in the things we cannot prove and have not yet seen.  For hope by its nature requires an unsubstantiated belief that things will improve.  How do you account to an unbeliever the reason for your hope that things will get better?  Interesting question to ask yourself.  Especially, as in our world there is no current supporting evidence that things are or will improve.  If you have placed your hope in things other than God you will eventually have to abandon that hope to this lack of empirical evidence.

Find hope in Jesus.  He will make a way where there is no path.  He will lead us through the dark times and the troubles.  My hope does not depend on me or circumstance but upon the faithfulness of God where I will never be let down.  In Jesus’ Name.

Let there be peace on Earth

What do we really want?  Isn’t it peace.  Why then is peace so elusive?  Could it be that so many disbelieve in its probable achievement that they have given in to the fulfillment of secondary and tertiary desires?  Or is peace possible in the human condition, having been continually inhibited by the existence of baser human urges to conquer, pillage, suppress and enslave those who we may dominate in our tyranny?  If the obstacle to peace is our own internal drive then how might we achieve that which is contrary to our own nature?  Maybe we should drop the sham until we admit to ourselves that we are incapable of accepting peace due to the self-sacrifice it requires of all men collectively?  Is that why we deny Jesus, because in our prideful throws and desire to overcome our own circumstance we are blind to our inefficacy?

Oh, following this vein the true academicians and experimentalists naturally arrived at the conclusion that a peaceful humanity must be ushered in through constructive mental reorganization.  Thus is born each historic tyrant, seeking to do the world a service by eradicating all those who will not follow the earthly divine mantra of collectivism.  Any one perceived as different becomes a threat, defined, targeted, stripped of humanity and disposed of for the sake of “peace”.  What a soured peace they serve when what honors all life becomes the foundation for killing those we dislike or misunderstand.

We have looked everywhere for this elusive peace, except to the God of our Fathers the origin of peace.  We have denied the blessings of good honest living before God, claiming that there has to be another way, a way in which man himself may free himself from his own poisonous character.  But this is not the way of things where cancer cures itself, for to do so means self-sacrifice.  This healing, this realignment of mans make-up, this elusive and unachievable peace is only possible through Divine Intervention.  Do you hear what I am saying that we are the infected host, to be healed of our illness will require the astute Hand of God’s applied healing?  As long as we remain under the delusion of man’s confounded wisdom we shall not reach that which we most desire.  Peace is only possible by embracing the Prince of Peace, The King of Kings, Jesus Christ the Lord, our Saviour.  Man will continue to say that he is for peace of this or that noble idea, but inevitably will continue to subjugate all that surrounds.

Do not fall for deep, noble or well designed arguments if they do not begin at the foundation of God’s Will for humanity.  If an idea appears to have come from any other origin you will be certain that it is just a convoluted, twisted, misaligned, misshapen, warped concept that is a variant of God’s original and perfect purpose for humanity.  Yes, we are struggling now, but we do not have to.  Yes, there is war now but that will not always be the case, for God has a plan.  Peace will come when we meet our eternal ruler, A Holy God who will maintain the peace forever.  We were not meant to be ruled by each other only by God.  As long as we continue to look to leaders for their unselfish guidance and love for the people they serve, we will be misled.  For man is incapable of embracing or creating peace.  This is a thing of God.  It is a thing we find in our own hearts as Jesus shows us that which surpasses worldly understanding.  You know that my words are truth.

Obey God and rejoice in what He gives you.  Peace will come at the end of this age, by the hand of Almighty God, levied by the only one worthy to proclaim judgment and instill peace, Jesus.  Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.  Volunteer to it now or do it later involuntarily, but His Will Shall Be Done on Earth even as it is in Heaven.  Amen.

Entitled

There are so many who demand that I prove to them that God exists.  I say to them this is a fool’s argument and ask in answer, prove to me that He doesn’t.  They do not like this requirement, for it is equally unachievable.  I do not bare the burden of your unbelief.  I want that all should come freely to the knowledge of the Truth, but I cannot drag, coerce or force your arrival, just as I cannot make a horse drink.  That is why belief and faith are so precious, because although they are voluntary they carry eternal consequence.  There is no other topic in life that has the intrinsic weight as does determining one’s belief in God through Christ.  I sympathize with your unbelief, it is excruciating.  However, each of us has the personal gravity of this choice to be made individually within the confines of our time on this planet.  You may believe what you wish to believe for that is the love of God to give free will to each of us.  But just because we have free will to live life as we choose does not remove the consequence of that choice.  God’s World, God’s rules.  Sorry, I cannot absolve you of that dilemma.

Why is it so important to you to change my faith, to show me what you believe are the errors of my ways?  This antagonistic and controlling urgency is evidence of your desire to run from the Truth of God, no matter the cost.  For a man who constructs a house of cards must surround himself with people who will never mention the illusion.  One child with the will to proclaim that the king has no clothes dispels the delusion.  Therefore all who sin will eventually segregate themselves from them who would bring to mind the abomination of their circumstance.  Or they will force everyone around them to come into line with the self-proclaimed justification and acceptability of their sin.  For reality must be changed, made malleable to avoid the nagging voice of conscience.  Romans 1 tells us that every man knows the truth of God and that when we turn away from that truth we are turned over to our own decadence.  We all know that God is there and that He is God, but if we rebel against that truth we shall be blinded to the truth in pursuit of our own desire, left alone to wallow in the mire of our chosen pigpen.  How ever you adorn a pig he is still at home in filth.  This does not invalidate the truth of God, it merely ignores that tragic, imminent day of reckoning where each of us must come to reality and judgment.

I am accountable for my sins against the Will of God.  The penalty He assigned for my sin is that I am appointed to die.  I cannot escape it, redefine it, ignore it, argue it, run away from it nor make remuneration for its impact.  If left in my condition I had no hope, but God provided a solution to my tragedy.  He came here, lived a perfect life and then paid my penalty, freeing me from the obligation over which I had no authority.  He died in my place, wearing the stain of my sin upon His soul.  I am set free from the weight of my condemnation through belief in the Truth of the Gospel.   I will not dishonor that loving sacrifice, made by a Holy God to accommodate your rebellious disobedience and denial of what we all know to be truth.  Choose for yourself, but make that choice wisely as the consequences are either eternal gratefulness in life or eternal regret in death.  I will not be codependent in your self-constructed illusion for I love you too much to do so.  Hating me or persecuting my brethren will never alleviate the gravity of your decision, it will only provide momentary, mood-altering catharsis.  I love you and pray that you find peace through Christ Jesus our King.

In Jesus’ Holy Name I pray for each of you this and every day of my life.

A Peculiar People

Do you find it hard to read or understand God’s Word?  For instance read the following passage from the Book of First Peter.  Ask yourself how you feel after reading this.  Do you feel excited, bored, confused or does it give you comfort?  I venture to say that if you let your feelings dictate how you approach God’s Word then you may be disappointed in its reading.  Approaching God’s Word with an open heart and an equally open mind will allow God’s Spirit to utilize all your senses to convict you, challenge you and give you much needed comfort in life’s living.  Honesty is a necessary component in being authentic.  Therefore, I must be willing to be honest with myself in searching/learning the Word of God.  Do I go into to with an agenda to find what I wish to see or do I read God’s Word and let it guide my life.  It may seem a nuanced idea but it is essential to establishing God’s Sovereignty and Will for our lives.  Either He leads or someone else leads in my life, that includes being self-led.

I will provide a bullet point list of what I believe this passage proclaims immediately following, but don’t trust me where God’s Word is concerned.  Be a Barean, search for yourself, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you.  If you come to a point where reading this Word gives you peace, joy and conviction, you are probably aligned with God’s Spirit.

1Peter2:4-20

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.  Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.  Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,  And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.  Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.   Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.  Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

Father, I pray that You give me the strength and courage to be authentic and true to this Word.  Please allow me to abstain from the use of my Christian faith as a cloke of maliciousness.  Let me honour all men, living in righteousness so that unbelievers may glorify You and put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.  Let me patiently endure suffering when it is deserved or false so that those in captivity might see Your Heart and accept the opportunity of salvation.  Let them glorify God when they persecute my good works.  Let me obey the leaders whom God has placed in position of authority, leaving their judgment to Him.  May my offerings be found acceptable to God through the Lord Jesus Christ our advocate and King.

  • We are chosen and precious to God, but unacceptable to man, just as Christ Jesus was rejected.  We have been designed with purpose to be a Holy Priesthood and offer up acceptable sacrifices to God in honor or our living, “Rock of Ages”, Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • We shall not be frustrated in our purpose as we believe upon the Cornerstone of Christ.
  • To we who believe, Jesus is precious, but to those who do not believe He is an offense, a stumbling block disallowed by religious leaders in the construction of our faith.
  • Those who do not believe and are disobedient to God’s Word are also a part of God’s Plan.
  • We were once individuals without mercy and having been brought into the marvelous light of the Lord Jesus Christ we are now a chosen, elect-nation of people that have obtained mercy and priesthood to proclaim the Glory of God through Jesus.  This fact makes us look odd to them who do not see the Truth of Jesus.
  • We should abstain from fleshly lusts with are the root of the war in each of our souls.
  • As beloved of God we should walk and talk in such a way among unbelievers that it glorifies God, even when they call us evil, they cannot deny the goodness in our walk and subsequently glorify God.
  • God raises up our rulers, therefore we should obey them in every ordinance in our understanding that this is the Will of Almighty God.
  • In our obedience we will put to silence the wisdom of foolish men as we voluntarily submit to God’s appointed leaders instead of putting on false face and secretly despising God’s Will.
  • Fear God, love believers, honor all men.
  • We honor God by accepting suffering whether deserved or not for what patience does it take just to take criticism when it is right?  Isn’t it the man who endures undeserved criticism who honors God in his patience?
