Indeed, there is freedom and life eternal through surrendering to the power of Christ’s death, resurrection and eternal life.  What happened at the cross was for every man.

Isn’t this man a model reminder of our calling to disciple and ambassadorship?  In my mind’s eye I  see the cross and Christ beyond it with arms open wide beckoning each us, “Come Home”.  Each time the enemy tries to capture my focus, diverting, pestering, nattering, or appearing as a swaggering dash of light, hoping to obscure or mislead my worship and prayer.  But, I know the voice of My Shepherd, the Lord, and others voices, waving hands or even shimmering angels fail to lead me astray.  Not because of my strength, my worth, my ability, but because the Holy Spirit seals me for eternity.

The players are gathering for their grand push to unseat the Sovereign Lord, but even now the cracks in their decadent armor are evident.  What shall happen to them when battle begins, oh, that is right, the Bible says that they will be vanquished, banished or captured in an instant by the Word of God.  They know the script and see it unfolding, just as it has been written, and they have rehearsed it differently, always hoping that when the curtain rises they will somehow be allowed to ad lib.  How deep my arrogance, pride and my consuming sin, that it would have led me to judge the savior.  You see, the outcome would have been no different if it had been me interrogating, punishing, judging or jeering at the savior, that passionate night.  For they are me, and I they, if not but for God’s call and intervention, I too would stand now in defiance.  Grace separates us and that Grace given by God as freedom form the prison of my poisoned humanity.

What then does Appleseed have to do with our continued victory.  One man intent on spreading the life giving hope and deliverance of the Gospel through travel, growth, kindness, patience and toughness.  That cannot be for those qualities may not be present in the same being all at once, they are anti matter are they not?  For we were not meant to be shy but physically capable of traveling great distances for truth’s sake.  We were not meant to be shy but gregarious in our love for Christ, telling all about love, our testimony and victory.  Oh yes, glorious victory, even in the midst of overwhelming odds, hunger, poverty or circumstance.  Like Johnny, we are to plant seeds, the seeds of God’s Glorious Word, leaving the outcome to Him, as He appoints, anoints and sends others to water, fertilize, tend and harvest the crops for salvation’s sake.  This is the job God has given me.  I know not those who have accepted and come to our Savior.  I only know those that I have met have received some measure of seed, planted in earth, hoping for good soil.  Do you see the importance of all planting something, for nothing grows without seed.  This is the work, the joyous work of seeking the lame and lost for salvation, healing and eternal life.  They may think us odd but in the end, God’s Kindness overwhelms their uncircumcised hearts.

How then shall I be remembered, I truly care not, if they recall simply that I served Christ, I was affiliated with the Lamb of God.  For in leaving this, even as my only remembrance I will have succeeded at the greatest purpose I may have possibly been assigned or undertaken.  I would like to be remembered well as Johnny was, giving care to those who would otherwise be intimidated, misunderstood or harmed.  It would be nice to be thought of as a man who always tried to pass on the access to growth, especially in bearing crops of fruit throughout the ages to come.  Care, joy, love, kindness, discipleship, commitment to Christ, these are the fruits of a man fulfilled.  Let us all feel the joy that comes with sonship, Lord my God, I pray.  In Jesus Name.
