Do I truly understand?

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.  Ephesians 3:19 KJV

This epistle should boggle the mind and leave the reader near-permanently awestruck regarding God’s infinite Majesty and Glory.  That I might be filled with the fullness of God, brings me to my knees in exuberance, joy, humility and contemplation.  How could God think of me in such a manner as to provide access to a love that surpasses human knowledge and understanding?  How can I know something that surpasses knowledge?  This concept requires the full, focused, meditation and reflection of my entire Earthy existence.

Paul makes implication that the Love of Christ is beyond this dimension.  He begins with the word, “breadth”, followed by the customary measures in a three dimensional plane, length, height and depth.  This fourth measure points clearly to Paul’s understanding that there are dimensions beyond our current material and scientific boundaries.  I believe that the tesseract is a visual representation, artist concept, that depicts this idea that Christ’s Love is beyond our capacity to understand within our current universal frame of reference.  I believe that I once heard this idea mentioned by Dr. Tackett, in the Truth Project, but as I am a bit slow on the uptake never truly understood what he was discussing.

What does it mean to die for an entire species, or an entire created planet of beings who remain particularly ungrateful, unrepentant and rebellious?  Would I die for you, knowing that you are an excellent human being, that in itself is questionable.  How then can I begin to comprehend someone who would willingly give up his life for people, known to be evil, people who, He fully knew would never turn their lives around?  To those who worship other gods I give you the Lord Jesus Christ, the one true God who loved us enough to die to return us the capacity to once again form relationship with our Creator.

Isn’t life the most precious thing that we have to give?  I know that the enemy has lured us into any measure which will reduce that unavoidable valuation.  I have seen this week Americans glorifying in the death of one of our greatest, most notorious adversaries.  I must remind that Christ died for him and commands us to love our enemies.  How is that possible?  You consider my statement absurd.  Then you begin to understand that the Love of Christ surpasses my ability to explain His directions to the Body.

How can we love that which is unlovable, evil or horrific?  The answer is “we cannot”, but Christ still bids us to do so.  If I cannot do something, nor understand something, how then am I to proceed?  The answer is that we are now filled with the knowledge of God through the Holy Spirit’s indwelling.  We can now do that which was previous beyond our capacity and understanding.  “All things are possible to him who believes”.  I know that is paraphrased but isn’t that the essence of Christ’s teaching?  This is the path to life, through faith in God and power through Spirit, accepting the gift of Jesus Christ the King.  May you be filled with all  the fullness of God through understanding, that which is beyond our own reasoning and comprehension.  Be filled with Spirit, understand and rejoice in God through belief in Jesus Christ, ruler of God’s creation.
