http://www.wnd.com/2014/07/science-writer-atheists-might-not-exist/ A funny thing happened on the way to develop my cognitive belief narrative, said that anarchist to the agnostic about the atheist.
How do I maintain composure, trust and assurance through the time of unclear direction by God? God’s prophets knew well how to react to times when the Lord apparently reserved or had no direction for these men. They understood the subtle hand of God in their lives, sometimes using “behind the scene” influences to change the course of rivers over time. What allowed them to wait out these times, resisting the urges of flight or fight, taking a stand where they were to align themselves with God’s lack of direction?
What we believe determines our position, actions, responsibilities and governs our list of potential options when confronted by this world’s direction. I believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not as some convenience to add my name to a list of personnel acceptable to speak at luncheons. I believe that the Lord God knew before the beginning of this or any world that we would rebel in a manner commensurate with our prideful nature. I believe that although Adam and Eve had the “free will” opportunity to choose otherwise, that God knew they would fall to satan’s convincing rhetoric in the garden. I believe that the Creator knew that He would have to physically enter time and space as a human being to sacrifice himself in order to demonstrate His amazing love for creation. I believe that in spite of all the enemy’s attempts to forestall that entry into our dimension, the Lord was born to a virgin mother, humbly having accepted herself as the vessel of God’s entry into the world, fulfilling all prophecy and predictions made by prophets, priests and kings.
Furthermore, I believe that God lived a perfect life as a man, determining for Himself the moment of His death at the brutal hands of human judges as payment of the collective sin debt for all humanity. I believe that He voluntarily gave up life to pay the awesome price of sin so that all of humankind would again have an opportunity to enter relationship with the Holy, Almighty Creator of the Universe. I believe that He is God and I am not. Therefore, I believe that my perspectives on His rules are irrelevant in adapting or changing them. Since He is the Sovereign Creator, what He says goes. My only “choice” is one of dedication, whether I will accept His rules and act in compliance or conflict with those written guidelines.
I choose to comply with His awesome gift of pardon for my sins. I believe that if I repent of my sins and believe that God became man, Jesus Christ, and lived, died and resurrected Himself as propitiation for my sins that I am included in a small segment of humanity that has surrendered ourselves to the Truth that is the Lord God. I further believe that those who Love God and Truthfully believe will by their new Spirit nature walk a path consistent with His principles, turning themselves away from behaviors associated typically with carnality, selfishness, sensory fulfillment and wanton/wickedness. The ideas of holiness and wickedness are juxtaposed, they cannot occupy the same space, the same mind or the same life direction. This is the conflict to which all of humanity finds itself participant.
I believe that the prophets, heroes and notable characters for good in Biblical history shared a commitment to the Light. I believe that they demonstrated their faith by maintaining course, attitude and action consistent with their belief in God’s Word of Truth. I believe that they exercised and demonstrated that faith through resolve to wait upon God’s direction rather than taking those dictated by their own hearts and minds. I believe that they used three techniques; one – they remained connected to God through prayer and scriptural review, two – they stayed the course upon which God had originally launched them and three – they took faith that God was always there especially during times of waiting, accepting fully that even when God’s Hand was not evident that He was inevitably at work behind the scenes orchestrating all things toward good for those who remained true to His calling.
I believe that politically correct speech is the enemy’s effective attempt to force vacillation in commitment. For example we cannot say that abortion or homosexuality are wrong without potentially violating the “doctrines of tolerance” forcibly enacted by worldly authority. It forces Christians to silence, which serves the purpose of God’s enemies. As Christians cannot speak the Truth in faith and love without having to out themselves as pronounced “intolerants”. This argument is fallacy, devised by the enemy for “truth is truth” and the edicts of right and wrong are written upon the hearts of men to violate or follow. Even the most ardent atheist has a sense of the wicked and divine. It is simply wrong to murder, in any circumstance, but the edicts of tolerance would have us move the goal posts of our own belief in order to make certain self-serving practices, like that of abortion, legal to serve the “will of man” and not the Will of God.
Man cannot serve two masters, especially where politically correct speech guidelines are concerned. We either believe in God’s Word as Truth or we believe in man’s definition/interpretation of right and wrong. We have collectively made this determination here in America when the rule of law was changed from Biblical virtue to the historical determination of man back in 1872. And let us be clear, as we all readily know, that negligence, naivete and bystanding are all admissions of guilt/inclusion within the parameters of the doctrines of tolerance. The Lord makes it crystal that “do nothings” and “say nothings” are included in the party to be judged, not the party to be acquitted. Remaining silent as a Christian is demonstration of disbelief and inclusion in the Worldly Doctrine Party. For a man cannot both speak the truth in faith and love as God directs and remain silent to the atrocities and wickedness of humanity/the need for a savior.
I choose to believe in the Word of God, where ever that may lead. I shall not fear man as I see him rattling his saber above my proffered neck. I am not bound by the limitations of man or the used car sales pitches of the fallen who would have me believe that this life is all I have. I am a child of the Most-High God and He has directed that I speak the truth to the world that seems bereft of truth. I have chosen to wait upon the Lord in every action of my life, certainly I fail, sputter, get weak and have to regain my footing when it falters, but I remain a soldier and priest on the battlefield for Christ. The Lord is my shepherd, who may I ask is yours?
