Great things

The Lord’s Glory is my conquest.  Seeing His name revered, exalted, lifted up and honored through all that I think, say and do is my greatest achievement.  I am after all living proof of His Glory, created from the beginning to do good works to His pleasure.  The moments at which I have forgotten this identity I have distanced from the Lord to depend upon my own capacity.  I just want to be your son Lord, to do those things as Spirit guides, directs and encourages.  Let me not look to the wind for the billow in my sails, may they instead be filled by the Breath of God, speeding me to my righteous destination.

This Christian life is hard even when we isolate ourselves into small units of believers for the sin comes with us into our midst, as we are all sinners.  Let us not forget that fact.  Some of the most egregious acts and atrocity have occurred in those believer groups that have try to sequester themselves from this world.  For this was not God’s intent.  We must venture through this world as Ambassadors for Christ, maintaining our demeanor and comporting ourselves in a Godly manner resisting sin and the devil through life in Jesus.  You see God loves these people and He needs us to go to them in love and truth so that they too may know the Love of the Father through Jesus Christ the Son.  That is my purpose, to love even the least of these to whom He has given precious life.  A short span of time through which they may get to know their eternal King and choose their own path to eternity.  If I may reach but one and that person chooses Jesus then I have overcome this world just as Jesus has done.

Praise God.  Thank you Jesus for the chance to do so.

The small things

If your Father asked you to clean your room and you ignored him or refused do you believe that he would then want to give you the tickets to the big game he had been keeping in reserve for reward?  If he warned you not to hang around with certain people, be in at a certain hour or cautioned you against the use of drugs or alcohol and you continued to violate his wishes, do you truly believe he would allow you to go on that trip for which you needed his permission?  If you showed little interest in doing simple things he asked of you and spent even less time trying to build a relationship with your Father do you actually consider that he would be enthusiastic about sharing his wisdom, knowledge and treasures with you?  Seriously, if your earthly Father would keep distant from you what then do you believe would be the reaction of a Holy Father in Heaven?

The Lord has not asked us to do the work He prepared for us, He has commanded us.  He has also told us that He disciplines those whom He loves.  What then can we be thinking when we expect God to come closer in relationship, tell us His will for our entire future or share greater blessings with us?

The Lord has shared some greater vision with His Daughters and Sons who have been obedient to His Word.  He stretches us and if we show Him our mustard seed of faith, being obedient even in the smallest things, He comes closer to us and opens up our eyes to the mysteries confounding humanity.  We must learn to demonstrate our belief in His promises, our love for Him, reverence and willingness to abide by His direction before He will give us greater tasks.  Most of the immature Christians I know are the first to ask God to show them His will for their lives, yet they are unwilling to repent, pray, study, attend church, tithe or disciple.  How ludicrous to believe that our Father in Heaven would be such a push over.  I have news for those unwilling to keep His commands, He is not a pushover like many human Fathers.  Do what He commanded because He commanded it and because you are so grateful that He cared enough to pull you out of your miserable circumstances, when you cried out to Him for assistance.  Yes I will be patient with you in your growing relationship with God, but please do not take Him for a fool, the ramifications of such behavior are eternal.

Please write His Word upon your heart.  Be obedient in the small things and I promise that He will come closer to you as you seek Him.  The Bible says “without faith it is impossible to please God.”  How then do we expect to please Him if we will not even show the faith in the fact that He is the Sovereign Creator of the Universe.  Hold tight to your mustard seed, read His inerrant Word and do what it says to do, then and only then should you cry out to Him to show you His Will for your life.  In this great big world it is the small things that matter.  Praise Almighty God in all His Glory.  In the eternal name of Jesus.

Sustaining Hope

Jesus lives.  What a statement.  A living God, who having experienced our pain, joy, love and ills of life now resides in all of us changing, supporting and empowering us to make it through trials to triumph.  When you consider your burdens what does that relationship do for you?  Are you constantly worried, sleeping poorly, malnourished and disgruntled over the things you are currently facing or does the knowledge that Christ Lives in you bring you an inexplicable peace?  Which is it?  As in most principles of the Bible there are only two sides, unlike this vacillating world with its movable lines of tolerance and morality there is no middle ground.  You either trust in and put your hope in Christ or you trust something else whether that be yourself, luck, chance or some other form of support.

If you do not believe and know that Christ is your sustaining hope and put your reliance on the immovable promises of God then you really should have that talk with yourself about salvation.  If you know about Christ but do not have a relationship with Him that sustains you in good times and bad then you really should have a conversation with Him about coming into your life.  If you find yourself relying on your own abilities to make it passed the next obstacle or dilemma, then you really should have a conversation with God about repentance for the sin of unbelief.  Either what the Bible says about Christ is true or it isn’t.  If it is true then we are commanded to rely upon Him always and cast our cares and concerns upon Him being sustained by His Divine Promises.  Again there is no middle ground.  Sure, all of us go through sanctification, trials, testing, stretching and discipline meant to strengthen our faith.  There will always be moments when you have to reach out to God in prayer and question to replace your upset with peace, but that should not be the norm.  At some point we have to turn our knowledge into belief and our belief in faith.

God is what He said that He is and He shall never change.  Doesn’t that give you a Hopeful foundation upon which to build your house?  Tie your boat to the cornerstone, the immovable anchor of Jesus Christ the King.  Then and only then will you find the sustaining hope to assure that you shall not be moved.
