Back to my knees. Too long in love with the cool breeze blowing off the mount, relaxing in the morning sun, delighting in the grace afforded us by God. Unmerited, one of those melodic words, spoken from educated pulpits putting something simple in lofty terms. It means none of us should feel entitled, because we don’t deserve it, cannot earn it, cannot achieve it, buy it, be born into it or hope to have it rub off on us by hanging out with the right sort of people. Grace is a gift, given to those who didn’t do anything to deserve except accept it in honesty, humility and truth. It is never really a gift until it is accepted, until that point it is just an offer. Look at the trouble that befell all those who tried to buy redemption, conjure the Holy Spirit or force their way into Heaven.
Fellow sinner. Caught in the ups and downs of this undulating tide called humanity. Swimming when I can, but most of the time simply floating, buoyed by the Mighty Hands of my unseen Redeemer. Basking in unearned bounty, serving my Master to whom I owe everything, including my first and second births. I don’t really even own the air that I consume to keep my lungs inflated and my heart pumping. My only possession is hope and that is priceless. I might pretend that I own love, relationships, freedom, knowledge or dreams, but those could all be taken away as well. The only thing I have is hope. Hope, in the Promises of a God who loved us so much that He put away, for a time, His Power and Glory to become a man. A man, born to humblest of circumstances, the Maker of the Universe, provided the one and only possible path for the regathering of mankind to His bosom.
He loves the murderer, the molester, the tyrant and the priest with equal fervor and wants that none should perish but all eventually accept His FREE GIFT of release from bondage. Many are called but few are chosen. What does that really mean? I think I know but I will give way to explanation between you and the Holy Spirit. Ask Him, the only teacher to explain the mysteries confounding and confronting your curiosity or doubt. He will answer. My greatest fear is that you will never ask because you already know that He will answer and that answer will change your life FOREVER. Do not be mastered by your own pride, serve the One who truly deserves everything we can muster. Praise Mighty Jesus, The KING. Amen
