Monumental is a live event, hosted by Kirk Cameron. On Tuesday, March 27^th 2012, in over 450 theaters nationwide, audiences will come together for this live, one-night event. A quiet, relatively full public bath and you realize you are surrounded by pagans chanting mantras to the fallen.  As you stand ready to depart you look around and see some children, absent their parents suddenly taken by curiosity of the strange group ritual.  You realize the moment that you begin to part your lips in protest that you may be the only Christian in the room.  And even worse when you ask them peacefully to please refrain from their religious practices in the middle of a public place you are attacked for being hateful.  They immediately try to paint you as the disturber even to the point of thuggery, one of them bullying up against you, challenging you verbally and telling you to leave.  Do you stand for the Lord, although He doesn’t need your defense?  Do you throw popularity out the window in defense of the children who may be deceived?  Tough choice, tougher stance, toughest road.  The problem is this is America, and being a Christian, they seek to do what for you has been prohibited.  The world has been flipped on its head.

This is America, where we as Christians used to be safe in proclaiming the name of God for all to hear and they rejoiced at the mention of His name.  This is America, that has fallen asleep and been turned over to its decadent mind in response to denying the truth that it a Holy God.  This is America, where Christianity is the new public enemy and subject to targeted oppression.  This is America, will you stand against the inroads of the enemy, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ or will you continue to allow our foundation to be eroded, chipped away and eventually overturned?  This is America where our children are being raised by secular teachers, being taught to disrespect everything, including themselves and to seek personal wealth, pleasure and perform for attention.  This is America, like Israel of old that has turned its face away from God and is suffering the repercussions.  This is America, for which so many lost their lives in defense of something right, pure and precious.  This is America a tarnished jewel dropped into the mud and stamped beneath boots of the unholy, never to be found.  God Bless Your Holy Name as You turn Your face away from her.  Forgive us, grant us another chance, awake our eyes to the foolishness of our footsteps.  Wake us or judge us, Your will be done.  In Jesus’ name.

Where do people run in disaster?  Answer, to the church.  If there were a disaster in your town, be it fire, flood, earthquake or attack, would your church be prepared to handle the influx of wounded, destitute, shocked and homeless?  Of course not, because the enemy has convinced us that we are simply there for fellowship, an occasional prayer and a weekend mission trip or two.  We have no purpose other than self serving assignment to gather and check the weekly, “I attended” church box.  We are not genuine in our living creating a desire among the lost to figure out the mystery asking us for an explanation of our internal hope.

We are not ready for the horrific moments following a tornado, fire or flood.  We simply say that is something for the government, the Red Cross or the Salvation Army to handle.  We have acquiesced our community leadership responsibility and care for the indigent to “someone else”  believing that the burden of the orphaned, poor, widowed and wounded is not our challenge.  This is entirely inconsistent with the Word and elucidates our continued disobedience to the Lord.  We should be the first responders in our communities, teaming up with the fire, police and government leaders to help the lost, sick and forgotten.  Utilizing the moment of disaster to demonstrate the peace, comfort and provision of our mighty God.  Showing the lost how we respond to their need out of our abundant, joyous and loving hearts.  Glorifying God in their greatest tribulation and instilling them with hope and courage to face the trials before them.  We must be what we have not been to this country and once again people will trust the church as the true House of God’s people.

The era for non commitment has dwindled.  A time for leisure Christianity has faded. The increasingly visible signs of Bible prophecy unfolding are indicators of the imminency of Christ’s return, yet we heed them not.  The Lord told us to be soul winners for the Kingdom, yet we witness not.  We have been warned of our need for repentance from sin, yet we return to our vomit as dogs.  The dangers of hell are prevalent and yet pastors preach them not.  What part of our actions are evidence to our Christianity?  How could each of us make a case for our own salvation?  I am not trying to judge, but I fear that many must have that Matthew 7:21 moment where they realize they are included among those to whom the Lord was promising exclusion.  Thinking you’re right and being right have always been two different things.

My prayers for this failing world have evolved to asking God to protect the innocent from the coming travesty.  Recently I have seen a preponderance of worldly people unafraid of the stance they have taken, fully embracing their unbridled wickedness, proud to be Godless.  The times are quickly cascading into a time that resembles the “times of Noah”.  If this does not sound an alarm then my fears are realized for we are closer than any of us imagines.  Did you look for Christ to come last night?  Did you get yesterday right appropriately fearing the Lord?  Are you sure?  This is one that you want to get right because even being partially wrong will cost you everything.  My advice, do what the Lord told all of us to do in the Bible, pray to Him unceasingly and keep your eyes skyward for His imminent return.  Soon, right away and “could happen any moment” are not words that can be ignored and this time excuses won’t matter.  Join Him or join the world in judgment.  That is freedom of choice, the choice every loving Father would give His children.  But do not mistake the Lord’s promise to judge this world’s iniquities for it is coming.  Do not be led astray by false teachers, false hopes or fleshly whispers.

Am I free?  Do I truly have the necessary components to exercise true liberty?  Have I bridled myself or sold my self determination to any master, limiting my independence?  Is there a charade surrounding this concept of my autonomy?  What defines my concept of freedom?  How can I speak truth in declaring that I am a free man?  What does that word really mean?  If the associative antonyms are restraint, imprisonment and incarceration does this term imply the absence of bondage?  Or is there a larger concept surrounding its reflection upon self-determination, self-governance, choice, license and leave?  Is freedom, in fact autarchy in the respect of self sovereignty?  And then in fact would this most effectively reflect our creation in the image of God?  Wouldn’t then freedom define our right in remaining sovereign over each and every facet of our personal existence?

Sounds nice, doesn’t it?  In order for us to achieve this freedom it means that being sovereign there is no escaping any action for which I alone am the nexus of responsibility.  I do not believe that those who mock the Lord God, claiming themselves to be sovereign understand and respect that for God excuses cannot exist.  Are we then right to hold God accountable for anything that goes wrong in His creation, perhaps taking the stance of a man much more righteous than myself, Job?  Since none of us is willing to subject ourselves to the strict guidelines of responsibility for our own creation.  Do I even have a toe to stand upon that I did not first receive from my Sovereign Creator, the Lord God of Israel and the Church?  Seek God do not seek to be like God for that is the greatest possible mistake any created being can commit.

Am I truly free to exercise my choice at any moment without contemplation for the effects of my deliberate self-focused action?  Do I have complete sovereignty from things like guilt, restitution, emotional or relational impact, loss of innocence and greed?  Radically, then is not my pursuit of personal freedom directly discordant with God’s will?  Have I not been given my marching orders and a list of expectations by my SOVEREIGN LORD, to which I have no freedom from responsibility?  If I choose my own design in replacement of God’s, I then am ANTICHRIST.  Do we not see the danger of pursuing liberty when that indulgence puts us in direct conflict with God?  Freedom is nice but voluntary slavery is a much greater pursuit in this world or the next.  Those who can understand will.

If I were to grant or acquiesce to your most persistent arguments, how would you have me bend?  Perhaps toward the conclusion that the Bible is not the inerrant Word of the Lord God, instead being some well-constructed set of manly musings depicting the way to a promising lifestyle?  Or maybe, you would have us consider the humanity of Jesus, neglecting the facts of His miraculous life, ministry and ascension, even obfuscating the numerous times He claimed that He was the Messiah and therefore God?  Perchance you would like to hash over the concepts surrounding multiple paths to heaven and enlightenment as the invitation to becoming immortal or one with the god universe?  Or maybe whittling down the Christian faith to something that resembled a duck instead of a steadfast belief in God’s plan for mankind allowing for open interpretation of His expectations is your most desired topic?

Trust me I have repeatedly reflected upon the possibility of softening my positions in order to get along with unbelievers or disobedient Christians.  I have arduously contemplated conforming my witness to capture the largest sampling of those who might be saved.  But in the end, the Word cannot be manipulated, measured or metered out at the whim of those seeking partial participation.  Although it is infinite in its unique capacity as a living document it is extremely exact and unchangeable with regard to its prophetic heraldry.  There is no escaping God’s grace, God’s love, God’s commandments, God’s might, His Glory, His righteousness and His inevitable, inescapable and unavoidable judgment in victory.  It is not me that you must convince, but rather you must invalidate the entire principles of truth in order to contradict God’s Word.  And that my friends is a LOST battle.  Be careful on which side you find yourself in the coming days as there is only one path to glory and that doorway is named Jesus Christ our Lord.  Praise You Mighty King.

Typically, failure at anything every day leads to ruin.  Amazingly, being a Christian is that rare life which almost guarantees failure each day while providing promise of perfect life for the belief and pursuit.  Not the success of such a life, but dedication to remaining on the path depending upon God’s previous and continued victory.  I cannot remember a day when I did not in some manner commit a sin against the Lord.  Such an excruciating record and continued reminder of failure should have sent my ship to the bottom long ago.  But on the contrary, each failure brings me a renewed vigor, a better understanding and a refreshed desire to know him so that I may have these iniquities removed from my soul henceforth, forever. Oh, what a blessed, mighty and grace-filled God that we serve.

I am not worth the life of a normal man.  How then did I warrant the death of the savior, the Christ of God?  This thing is too massive to comprehend, yet it remains true.  I cannot get my head around the twenty-seven supposed dimensions of string theory, but they are nonetheless probably correct.  God does not depend upon me for definition through comprehension or worldly explanation.  He is beyond my capacity for cognizance.  That is where belief in such an infinite reality becomes paramount.  Faith is the key to salvation and subsequent eternity.  Grasping tightly to something that for which you do not require proof but choose to depend upon.  Residing in the promises of the Lord guarantees my eventual victory.  Although, I may fail each and every day I will, at the end be entirely successful.  Nothing else compares to God’s benevolent exception.  Praise You Father, forgive me for my continued stupidity, disobedience and unconsciousness.  I love You Lord Jesus.  Come and set this world free to serve You in peace and justice, forever.  Amen.

It’s not the building or the member group that constitutes the House of God.  No matter how wealthy, well-equipped or broad the membership of a particular church, regardless of denomination the Bible is exceedingly clear that Christians are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit testifies that we are the children of the Most High God, not the pope, the elders or some convention of wise men.  None of us is closer to God than any other Christian, although some might walk more closely in fellowship, Jesus is very clear that we are servants to each other.  The dominance and top-down leadership of the church without maintenance or adherence to the Word of the Lord is in direct violation of doctrine and truth.  The proclivity to twist, manipulate or over/under interpret the Word in order to fit some eisegetical justification for a church’s mismanagement is in direct opposition to the direction of the King of Kings.  Have pastor’s, church elders and business managers lost their fear of the Lord?  Have they forgotten that their actions will be MORE CLOSELY reviewed and judged for their capacity to create havoc or lead multitudes astray?  It is entirely foolhardy to trifle with God.

To individual members of a Church I leave you with one illustration.  If you have a polluted glass of water, turned brown by its various contents, dirt, feces, oil and other sins no matter how much of that glass you replace with clean water it will still be impure.  We cannot clean the glass ourselves.  Our attempts to present our “nearly pure” glasses of water to the Lord are futile.  We cannot become pure on our own.  We must be washed clean of our pollutants by the blood of the Lamb.  Born again to occupy a new body untainted by the sins of our dead souls, gone to the cross with Christ.  We must be empty in order for the Lord to fill us with the Living Water, Holy, Pure and Righteous by His Works.  New wine, new wine-skins.  Present your bodies as a Holy sacrifice where He may reside in this world.  God is Righteous, Holy and Just.  He cannot abide sin and that includes sin in the Temple (our bodies).  Surrender to Him and let Him cleanse you of unrighteous so that He may live with you in this life and the next.  Praise You Glorious Father, Lord Jesus our King.

What wakes me at night?  It is not fear of demons but prayers for the innocent.  I do not linger for wish of plenty or agony of drought, but for broken-hearted failure to comply with the expectations of the real and complicity with the false.  This life is necessary but in irony a sham.  It promises acceptance, understanding and love but lacks ability to comprehend such treasure.  I strive to fulfill paradigms which continuously change in this fickle display of catharsis and coveting.  No, my nightmare goes on in the form of yearning to be shaken awake to my real life, finding that this ridiculousness was the dream.  Break my shackles of limited understanding for it is absolutely apparent that I cannot exceed the perceived expectations of this trial.  Let me die that in my place Your glory might live and light the way to abundant spirit, heart and deed.  Where I am doomed to sleeplessness in failure, You promise of peaceful, victorious slumber.  Let me awake no more until that day I face Your splendid love, knowledge and judgment.  In You I find my rest to face what must be endured.  All my heart, mind, Spirit, soul and love are Yours.  In Jesus’ Holy name, I pray.  Amen.

When we talk of types, heroes and villains in the old testament, it is often minus the caveat that they were not yet under the grace we enjoy and unceremoniously take for granted.  Wives, concubines, false idols, sacrifices and indiscretions were viewed in comparison to adherence with the law and the prophets.  How hopeless at times it would have seemed to fulfill the over six hundred requirements of the Pharisees and Sadducees, especially absent a solid human example by which to pattern one’s walk.  How amazing that there were men considered righteous in such exceptional times.  How painful the direct discipline exacted by the Father for collective disobedience.  How cautious they would have been to adhere to every facet of the impossible law, driving themselves nearly insane with a manner of religious OCD.  How tragic a history and glorious a future.

Romans 9:30-10:13 What then shall we say?  That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith, but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it.  Why not:  Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works.  They stumbled over the “stumbling stone.”  As it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” 

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.  For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.  Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.  Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: “The man who does these things will live by them.”  But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ “(that is, to bring Christ down) or ‘Who will descend into the deep? “(that is to bring Christ up form the dead).  But what does it say?  ” the word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:  That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord, ” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  As the Scripture says,  “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.”  For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,  for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”

Paul trembled in fear at the reality of the Jew’s conscious naivete.  It must have been excruciating for those of the Jewish faith who understood prophecy’s fulfillment in Christ Jesus to see their Jewish brethren so poorly mis-comprehend God’s plan for the Nation of Israel.  How heartbreaking to see their brothers and sisters stumble over the Cornerstone of Zion, the Rock, their only way to redemption, freedom and salvation.

As Christians, perhaps we should share Paul’s apprehension and comprehensively value the grace we have been given .  We earned nothing, did nothing, attained nothing and were given everything.  How I cry for the Jewish people without whom we would never have been saved.  Pray for them in their coming hour of greatest need.  They are about to suffer tremendously for being God’s chosen people.  Since they denied their Messiah at His arrival, eventual recognition will cost them dearly.  Lord, have mercy on Your people.  Let them see You and proclaim Your glory in advance of Jacob’s great day of trial, so that they may escape the wrath to come.  How they will dance when they see Your face Lord Jesus, when all Your Majesty and Your plan is unveiled.  We love You Father, In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Time is not my enemy.  It is a simple device to measure the elasticity of my existence in this plane.  Any static equation changes when subjected to the effects of performance over time.  This is radical to some but standard operation for those practicing calculus to test the parameters of a particular function or process.  We were taught in youth that we live in a three dimensional space but this construct was obliterated by Einstein, his predecessors and descendents for its lack of the fourth dimensional variable, Time.  Does time confound you?  Are you in constant struggle to stay ahead of the game, to get everything done or to devote yourself to God’s will and relationship?  You must see this as an indication that there remains some resistance to surrender in your walk of faith.   Here’s why.

The Lord is a God of order, nothing in the universe, even in the principles of chaos, operates outside of an orderly procession.  Even random anomalies once perceived to be in flux and incongruity are now understood to fall directly within this orderly construct of God’s created universe.  Nothing falls outside of God’s rules and design for its process over time.  Therefore anything that operates outside of this orderly construct comes from our improper understanding of this orderly principle.

If your life is disjunctive and you don’t have time for devotion, it is directly correlated to serving another master.  If your work consumes your life, you are not in compliance with the Lord’s will for your life.  If you are faced with constant worry and anxiety it is in direct correlation to the time that you are spending walking in the Holy Spirit, spending time in prayer and remaining in the word.  If your family is a disaster it is because you have not become their spiritual leader, guiding them to an active, peaceful relationship with the Father through study, prayer and practice.  I believe that the Lord designed this calamity as a revelation of our synchronicity with His will for our lives.  A reminder that we are not in step with Him and therefore the workings are out of whack, so to say.  If you perceive calamity in this way, you will rapidly seek revision in your walk to get things back into balance with the Creator.  You will naturally subject those areas of your life which remain “imbalanced” to the Lord for transformation.  Trust me He will make the changes, your only responsibility and frankly your only option is to surrender wholeheartedly.  Nothing else will provide resolution to the disjunctive flow within your universe.  He is God and I am not.  He will make the necessary changes if I cooperate through surrender and subsequent obedience.

The Lord will give us trials, things will not always be comfortable and our thoughts filled with butterflies and flowers.  However, if your walk is close to the Lord when those trials come you will see them for what they are, “opportunities to demonstrate His glory” to this world gone astray.  If your life is out of control in any area, don’t trust me on this take that inquiry to the Holy Spirit and I can guarantee with certainty you will find your walk out of sync with God.  We were meant as victors, priests and kings.  And as the Lord has overcome all that is in this world there should be nothing that can consistently toss us for a loop.  Concentrate on the fruits of the spirit and test your self and those you come into contact with against the evidence this should provide of our salvation and inclusion in the Family of God.  Time is not my enemy but rather a simple measure of my life over distance and space.  It is a precious reminder of my remaining opportunity to do God’s work and brings me, each moment, a bit closer to my eternal life with Him.  Praise You Lord, in the name of Jesus, the King of Kings.
