Your role, your conversation to have with your Maker. Our collective role is not an issue of interpretation but rather acceptance and accountability. What He told us all to do, in His Will, is not reasonably visible, but so crystal clear that if there were a descriptive above “absolutely transparent” that would be the one I would choose to describe the Lord’s direction to His people, His church, His disciples. The answer to understanding God’s Will for our lives begins with surrender and ends with performance. Giving our lives, in their broken state to the Lord, then growing in His Word and Fellowship to the point where we receive, understand and perform His Will for our lives.
Although, it is through His authority, His power, His ability to transform each believer and must not be confused with personal works or earning salvation, there still is need of performance to comply with the direction God has given us. Not doing something for my own benefit but for His Glory. Jobs He had prepared for me before the beginning of time that I will accomplish through His guidance and power still require me to take the action. Individual paralysis through fear, false security based on mention of the “sinner’s prayer” in a moment of contrition or inaction due to complacency are all joyous to God’s enemies, because they all commonly offer excuse for not performing the works for which God designed us. If we had no obstacles to overcome we could never demonstrate God’s glorious victory through our personal triumph. The obstacles are “de facto” evidence of God’s participation in our lives and should be celebrated not avoided, feared or misunderstood.
We surrender to the truth that we are all sinners, and NONE of us reaches the Glory of God. ALL are in the need of a savior. We intuitively know these things because the Lord gave us that understanding at the core of our being. This is the point of surrendering to that knowledge of God in His attempt to recover us from the depth of our ancestral fall. He reached out to us we must then reach back to Him.
There Has to be a “visible” evidence of gratitude, transformation, willingness, belonging and believing in the purposes for which we were set free. Joyous performance is one such “visible evidence”. So too are actions like; eagerly seeking the Lord’s Word, eagerly remaining in prayer and voluntarily outwardly demonstrating the inward transformation through things like repentance, restitution, remembrance, right-action, JOY, PEACE and LOVE. If these evidences are not identifiable then one of several Mal-occurences should be expected; backsliding through self-service or idol worship, lack of Holy Spirit filling or worse yet “apostasy” (downright abandonment of the truth of the Lord).
However you cut the pie up there is still a first piece and a last piece with the determining factor between them being “Time”. We are inside of time and therefore the time of surrender and performance is finite. We only have so much time to make decisions and take actions. The Lord is the determiner of the time line, it started when He declared the beginning and will end when He says “enough”. Not knowing when the declaration will come should impart to each believer a sense of urgency. If it isn’t then there ought to be some sincere prayer because “something ain’t right”. Praise Your Holy Name Lord, Jesus be praised.
