Faith begets footsteps

Gabriel told Daniel as it is written in the 9th Chapter by his name, the exact day that Jesus would present Himself as King.  Exactly 173,880 days from the announcement to rebuild Jerusalem on March 14, 445BC to April 6, 32AD.  Jesus entered Jerusalem riding the foal of a donkey on that exact day, as the people welcomed Him singing Psalm 118 about the coming of their King.

For those of us who do not see the impetus for understanding prophecy.  Jesus foretold the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD to the Jews.  Whoever says that there is no consequence for not understanding prophecy should truly reconsider that position.  Here is the reason he gave them that this would happen.  Luke 19:44 “They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls.  They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”  It is equally interesting that although many Jews were killed during that event, relatively few Christians perished.  Why is that?  Apparently, Christians heeded the Lord’s warning in Luke 21:20 and fled the city before the siege of Titus Vespasian.

We have been told by the Prophets, Apostles and the Lord Himself what is coming.  It is our responsibility to know Biblical Prophecy and respond accordingly as the Lord commands.  If they keep telling Christians, over and over to be ready, what happens if we aren’t?  Please don’t set yourselves up for the consequences of disobedience.  Praise His Holy Plan.   Thank you Lord Jesus.

Go or stay?

What do you do when you are unsure?  Do you sit at the crossroads and wait for guidance, direction, whispers on the wind or do you charge ahead making confident decisions based on available logic?  Does the enemy give you the slightest thought as you sit there on the side of the road waiting to hear from the Holy Spirit?  Does he forget you thinking you out of the game or does he discourage your irrational patience and continually apply the spurs to your underside, prodding you toward action?  How could standing still possibly constitute a threat to the enemy’s expectations?  Candid, truthful response is that anything that makes you more dependent upon the Lord is bad news for you know who.

When you go out in the desert and don’t know where you will get food or drink but refuse to worry, how much does that aggravate the accuser of the brethren?  Why would he waste time to come out there and offer you sustenance unless it somehow deterred you from residing in the promises of the Lord?  Remember fallen angels hang out in the dry, lifeless places, so expect a visit when you are in need of a drink, walking through the endless, hot sand.  He was apparently so arrogant, may the Lord rebuke him, he arrived at a similar moment to test Lord Jesus.  What makes you think he will just leave you out there where you might call upon Name of the Lord?

Taking action is easy for most but difficult for the fearful.  Be cautious about the enemy’s strategy for your life.  If you are prone to fear he will attempt to paralyze you with it.  If you are prone to over achievement he will try to create a panicked desire to act, RIGHT NOW!  Ask for discernment and only listen to that small, still voice that directs you to do the right thing.  Don’t confuse difficult with wrong.  The path of least residence, the easy road, THE WIDE PATH, is typically not the best choice for believers.  Stay on the narrow path and when the Lord says wait, I pray you sit right down with a smile on your face and don’t budge for anything but the Lord.  Praise Jesus.  Be strong, He is coming.

The eyes have it

I, hay or eye are so similar.  Not just homonyms but sharing synonymous focus.  That focus being “me”.  I want, hay is the vote for my desire and my eyes track what my flesh requires.  Lord forgive me for those sins I have committed in omission, those naughty little covets with my eyes, wishes and declarations.  Don’t we get it that the first three books of Revelation are those that apply to true believers?  We will be gone by the time Book four declares those things that are yet to come.  We’ve got a short time to get it right, to surrender, to obey, to prepare and share.  We were not made for tribulation but to be wed to the Lord during Jacob’s time of trial and the Great Day of our Lord.  We will see our day of judgment before everyone else.  We will receive our rewards, our feast and our husband while the world is catapulted into the worst days in history.  Why else would it be called “blessed assurance”?

In the interim it is the little things that matter.  Everyone can see a tank coming over the horizon or an opposing army’s movements, but it is the assassin, the creeping lion the lord of the flies that is the most dangerous.  Don’t just watch out for the big things in this life, be a watchman for the enemies who use camouflage, disguise or concealment as their primary weaponry.   We are called to remember our first love, to endure persecution, to repent and remain clean from spiritual and sexual immorality, but the one we miss is being vigilant.  Our greatest enemy is complacency.

In 549 B.C., Cyrus of Persia conquered the “impregnable” city of Sardis and it is said that he came “like a thief in the night”.  Does this reference sound familiar?  The citizens of Sardis had a false sense of security, they took their salvation for granted and therefore the guard posts were empty on three sides of the city cliffs.  Diligence would have saved their lives, vigilance would have seen and perhaps repelled the enemy, yet false hope destroyed their city.  Do we hear the messages that the Lord is telling each of us as He warns the churches?  Will we be caught asleep in spiritual pride or will we remain vigilant, with the oil of the Holy Spirit filling our lamps.  Will we focus our hearts, minds and eyes toward His inevitable return for His Church?  Do I walk by faith or do the “eyes have it”?  I delight in the thought of You, Father Almighty, Jesus my King and Holy Spirit my Guide.

Jeremiah 10:23 I know, O Lord, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.  Correct me, Lord, but only with justice–not in Your anger, lest You reduce me to nothing.  Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge You, on the peoples who do not call on Your name.  For they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him completely and destroyed his homeland.

No window necessary

What’s more precious than God’s shared truth through each individual heart?  Tell me Brother the word that you have been reluctant to share, because as God’s word says; “Better is open rebuke than hidden love”.  I trust the Lord and naturally since He lives in you, I feel that a message from you spoken in truth and love is invariably directed by the Lord.  It is extremely difficult to see oneself without a mirror, please be that mirror to reflect those facets which may be unpleasing in His sight.  I know that things may not be corrected except by the Holy Spirit’s intervention but I actively accept this role in pursuit of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.  To that end the Word indicates the necessity of using the fruit of the Spirit to implement such personal commitment;

“Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.  See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.  See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.”  Hebrews 12:14-16  We are meant to be holy, patient and sexually pure as any groom would expect of his bride.  How manifold the importance considering we are to be wed to Christ.

Keep on loving each other as brothers.  Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.  Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.  Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.  Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”  So we say with confidence, ” The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:1-6

These statements are not conditional they are informative as teacher to student.  Do these things and things will go right, disobey this direction and things will go badly.  The Lord expects so much of us, but after all we owe Him everything.  Be aware that the enemy will consistently attempt to stop you, dissuade you, harass you, cajole you or simply corrupt you into disobeying the Lord’s direction.

To sally on to the field of Christian battle without expecting enemy assault is worse than naive it is negligent.  Be neither!  Be prepared, be armored, be strong in the Lord and the Power of His Might, be prayerful, be courageous, be cunning, committed and stand your ground, shields locked with your Christian Brothers and His Word sharp upon your readied tongue.  Be victorious my friends, in Jesus.  Amen.

Flight or Fight?

Proverbs 28:1  The wicked man flees though no one pursues but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Compassion for those that run from the Lord and toward spontaneous satisfaction.  Why do they mourn their iconic members like Lennon, Jobs, and Jackson?  You would too if this life were all that you had, the memory of them is the only thing which keeps them alive, for they are dead to this world and the next.  Can you imagine the hunger born by a knowledge that “this is all that you’ve got”?  An unquenchable thirst for gratification.  A quest for sensory fulfillment.  An emptiness that may only be filled by love but may be numbed by lust, attention and manna.  Knowing fully the “Truth of God” but needing to avoid it with such passion that you ban prayer in schools, hate the lovers of God and drink/drug your way into momentary blissful escape.  Turned over to the decadence of your mind to pursue every evil thought and thus unfulfilled needing to lead others toward abandon.

Weep for Jerusalem as Jesus would wish to gather all His sheep and He knows fully who will never come to Him.  Coming Judgment implies that there will be those who need to be judged, those who run from the commands of their maker, choosing to serve the gods of “self”, prideful-fallen or objects of creation.  The lures of false religion, false gods and commerce, the three things that will be destroyed in the final chapters of revelation.  They hunger for Babylon’s promise of personal godhood, unbridled passion and saturated wealth.  For this to be truth God must be a lie and so they must run from, mock or destroy all those reminders of the Truth that is the Lord of all creation.  Oh pity’s cry for those who die.  Making preparation for eternal separation from life as the wife of the Lamb.  Those who walk the hills of Zion as confident lion waiting for the Lord and Kingdom come.

First sight

Those eyes, that smile and a face that we cannot see while still this side of Glory.  What will He look like, will it be a hug after He tells me to get up from my face before Him?  Will I be able to breathe or will I be unable to fill my chest with air?  How will I be able to contain myself when He looks through me in judgment, laying my entire life bare?  Will He find me worthy of expressing those wonderful words or will He remind me of how time and again I served myself?  Will He tell me to go wait on the bench for my friends and family to arrive?

What can I leave behind and take with me at the same time?  Relationships, education, service, experiences, shared love, will that cache be large or my treasures be few?  Will those on earth mourn my loss, dance in delight at my graduation or just forget me for never having done anything memorable.  Will I approach Him in purity, righteousness and confidence or in the shame of my sin?  I know that I am going to Jesus.  I want it to be in joy, celebration and relief not in apprehension.

Oh Precious Lord I pray that I use well the time here that You’ve given me.  Let me arrive before you in peaceful expectation. May my regret be minimal because I surrendered my life to you in time to accomplish many things for the Kingdom.   I pray that I will not look away but accept Your righteous judgment as a man who truly knows that he did the best that he could through Your Holy Spirit.  For You Lord.  King of Kings, Jesus.

Forever’s Dream

My hiding place.  The wonderful sigh, as I rest my wearied head upon the stone warmed by Your Presence.  Acquiescence without regard for failure.  Hardened to wind, shackle and fire, prepared for the coming storm laying my soul bare.  Every weakness, every perfectly constructed sinew, stretching beyond the physical boundaries of science.  Designed beyond specification, made for real work.  The kind that leaves its life upon the mountain, yet stands in renewed spirit to go forth and bring others to the forge.  There is no question, certainly not of You.  Lord we will simply “do” when You ask it from us.  There is nothing left of that man, no flecks to chip away, no flesh to adhere ego’s anchor.  A vessel, a ship, a carrying case for the spirit of a man who will reside in peace, work and relationship with You.  Oh, forever’s dream, forever’s dream.  I pray You, at last.

Lay Your hand upon me

Lord forgive me those things that I have done rashly or done through misunderstanding.  You are the only truth and I am merely a reflection of Your light.  In my self I am incapable in contemplation, action and effect.  There is no plan that I developed with any guarantee other than its assured self-serving impotency.  My witness is my tool kit but you provide the strength, knowledge and application that make anything I do adequate for Your Kingdom.  If what I have done, continue to do or thoughts and actions I undertake do not bring glory to “You alone”, instruct me, correct me, chasten me, guide and transform me in to a usable tool for Your purposes.  Let me act in love.  Remove from me any footholds I have allowed the enemy on the surface of my life.  Close any windows, doors or tunnels that the enemy has gained into Your temple.  Strengthen me to resist and be ever mindful of enemy attempts to gain entry in to work filth in Your Holy Places.  Let me be a faithful watchman who never leaves his post and remains vigilant, prepared and loyal at all times.  Call me to be accountable with myself and for those in community for whom I have responsibility.  Let me speak the truth to Your enemies, mockers and miscreants.  Give me the strength to fulfill all the actions at the appropriate times you have ordered.  Be with us always.  King Jesus, thank you.

Victorious Family

http://youtu.be/zNK7RToBVXI  The late Adrian Rogers–Put on the Full Armor of God Sermon– Ephesians 6:10

This next battle will have no bystanders.  Has the message of readiness resonated in your current world view?  Do you truly live as if the Lord’s plan is unfolding and therefore are making the necessary preparation for coming battle with our collective enemy, Satan?  Are you secure in your salvation, aware of God’s will for your life, surrendered to the work set before you and clear on the ordered steps and actions required of you?  Has intercessory prayer taken its leading position in your schedule?  Have you repented of sin and forgiven all those that you can and asked the Lord to allow you to forgive those that you cannot?  Are you studying the word, daily, with the Holy Spirit as your guide, preparing your mind for the coming conflicts with the enemy?

Is your mind protected by the helmet of salvation with the mind of Christ so that you may capture every thought and see beyond deception?  Are you practicing your footwork and strengthening your legs so that you may stand against the pressure of the enemy’s forces?  Do you know your enemy?  Do you know the Lord and have you put Him on with care every day?  If there are things of which you are uncertain, seek Brothers who will help you sure up your armor.  Accountability and dependence upon each other is indispensable in preparation for the coming war.

Yes, the Lord will deliver us but we must do the preparatory work just as in reaping a harvest we must prepare the ground and tend the fields.  Get ready, be prepared and help others get ready, then turn your faces skyward in anticipation.  You are not alone, We are the eternal family of the Almighty God and we pray for each other, support each other and fight for each other.  Our hope is in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ and He is coming soon.  Praise His Glorious Name.  I love you and I am here for you in counsel, love, encouragement and prayer.
